Sounds like a lot of excuses always heard before a new series is introduced 😀. Didn't clearly express it in my earlier post, but I have no interest in AF - this would simplify such camera and also avoid in-house competition with existing SL and Q cameras. I don't think a Leica M with EVF instead of rangefinder would be so hard to build. Reduces the amount of mechanical components, and the freed space of the rangefinder could be used for electronic parts to allow powerful EVF.  I also don't think that this hybrid camera would cause a lot of drop in sales for existing M cameras - I would certainly keep my rangefinder cameras but would add such hybrid camera if available.

We’re talking Q in this forum not M. There are about 20 pages of M with EVF on M forums. I suggest you take a look there.

I am talking about the Q/M hybrid which is the same. Just stated that a Q with exchangeable lenses would be nic(er) to have. I guess we agree to disagree here.

But then it wouldn't be a Q.  Have to think of another letter in the Leica alphabet.  Also, if you want to see how good the Q is in a cropped portrait just look at some of the photos posted by @benqui  This one is stunning:

And since you can use M lenses on an SL, which already has an EVF, what would be the point? Market duplication of function is not a profitable way to run a business.

I have zero interest in the SL either - much to bulky, no need for AF/bulky AF lenses. And some M lenses don't work well adapted to the SL either.

Interchangeable lenses and no AF? It seems to me that a Q with interchangeable lenses and no autofocus would be an "M."  Doesn't Leica already make those?  🤣

Yes if the M had EVF. But such camera does not exist at this point. That's the whole point of my comment - the Leica Q is the only M-form like camera with EVF - nearly ideal but unfortunately only with fixed lens which I dislike (yes, I am changing M lenses often and don't want to give up on this!).

As said before, maybe you should offer your suggestions on an M with EVF to the M forum. As stated before converting the Q to be an ILC is much more complicated than simply putting a mount onto it.

Exactly: it reminds me forcefully why I gave up lugging around my top-end Canon with multiple lenses in favour of walking around with a Q2. I do miss wildlife photography but the consolations are landscape work and a much less painful shoulder and back.

Leica can always make a small body, as stated in my post. I doubt they can match up the spec of the Q's 28/1.7, though (leaf shutter, for example). Fixed lens camera are compact because they can be designed together, where interchangeable lens system can't. Sony shooter had been wanting a true RX1 interchangeable version for years, at least a lens with similar performance. It never happen unfortunately.

I'll be happy with a Q with a 50mm lens, even a f/2.0 rather than 1.7
