Just had 1 week ago cataracts replaced. I am short sighted so, 'internal lenses' now cover that. I can see pretty sharp for 3-4 metres, after that I wear glasses. I have no problems with split-image focussing with or without glasses much to my pleasure and surprise with the M11. If a subject is very dark, and has no distinct line, I resort to time honoured zone focussing. Very happy with either method.

Thank you for responding - that's good to know. I think I'm going to get a 21MM.

I wish you well for a good recovery from your operation. All best. IB

I also use the M11 rangefinder for some subjects, if something I want in the scene is closer to me, I will either use the split image rangefinder or I will guesstimate and set the camera distance i.e. zone focus. So far I have not used the ext. Visoflex 2.

Thanks.  Useful to know.  All best IB

Thank you so far so good with the eyes. It will take about 3 to 4 weeks for them to settle down.

Curious to see if some people will like that one. I do but i have no idea why. No film, no crop. Sony A7r2 mod + Super-Angulon 21/3.4.

Hi there! I'm curious about how you adapted the lens to your Sony and how well it can hold up to the modern sensor. Thanks

Hi, the lens was not adapted it is the body modded by Kolari Vision. Allows to take pics like the one above or this one (link) at f/8 and on with the S-A 21/3.4. At 5.6 and below corners become softer.

I've bought recently the 21 SEM to couple with M240.

I use it mainly as a portrait lens, but obviously it's ok as a landscape lens too and I love it.

The only pity is that it's a little too dark to use inside if you don't use a modern M with good high ISO.

Hey Dennis, cómo estas? Didn’t know you got the 21 f4… I've considered it at times and it’s often on my radar, ticks a lot of boxes haha. What’s your take on it using it? Thanks, un abrazo

Hola Sergio. It is a great lens, very sharp since f/4 (I use it mainly at f/8 for deep DoF), super light, and tiny. It's enough for all my needs. Consider that I don't use it often cause when I want a wider lens than a 35, I usually switch to 28. The 21 is only when I really need it. I know the SEM is one of the best Leica lenses and expensive (compared to the CV), and I don't justify the investment if I know I will not use it often.

But as I said before, in the RF, the magic happens between 28 and 50. I prefer to use the OVF instead of LV or get an external VF. I don't particularly enjoy guesstimates because a proper composition is essential.
The only con of this lens is, sometimes, a light pink color cast in corners. It's much more on elder cameras, but it shows up on an M10 a few times. And when it does, it's always moderate and easy to fix. The distortion is decent for a 21 but not as good as the SEM. In a few words, and IMHO, it's the perfect balance for a cheap 21 to use from time to time.

Saludos Sergio

Thanks for the insight. Fully agree with you in all statements about RF and favorite focal lengths. My potential use would also be occasional and this feedback makes me surely to consider it 👍
