SEM21, the MFD of 70 cm is something I struggle with every time I use this lens.

21mm Super Elmar on an M262 from my last trip to St. Louis.

Great shots. Thanks for posting.  I'm very tempted to get a 21mm for my M262. Could I ask you a couple of questions please ? How do you focus the lens ? Does the rangefinder patch work with the lens ? Which frame lines show up when using the 21mm ? Do you use a separate viewfinder or do you, as I would be tempted to do, just guess ? Many thanks.

The 21mm lens brings up the 28-90mm frame set.

The lens rangefinder focuses well and very accurately but I often shoot it by simply setting the focus to a hyper-focus setting based on the aperture in use to maximize focus front to back.

I do have a 21mm finder, the plastic Leica version with the locking foot.

The angle of view of a 21 mm lens is about 90 degrees. You can visualize this reasonably well with a bit if practice.

I also use the M11 rangefinder for some subjects, if something I want in the scene is closer to me, I will either use the split image rangefinder or I will guesstimate and set the camera distance i.e. zone focus. So far I have not used the ext. Visoflex 2.

Just had 1 week ago cataracts replaced. I am short sighted so, 'internal lenses' now cover that. I can see pretty sharp for 3-4 metres, after that I wear glasses. I have no problems with split-image focussing with or without glasses much to my pleasure and surprise with the M11. If a subject is very dark, and has no distinct line, I resort to time honoured zone focussing. Very happy with either method.
