The 50APO has such a snap because of the very level of high contrast everywhere. The main issue with it that it doesn't have any lenses that pair with it that well. As everything is a noticeable drop in quality in comparison. This is noticeable "even" at 24mpx.

I haven't tried the 35APO but since it is so close in frame size it doesn't make such sense as a partner. Maybe they will make a 28mm APO one day.

Looking forward to hear all the disagreements.

The first lens I bought for my M10-P about a year ago was the black chrome APO-Summicron 50mm.  This was supposed to be my one lens to do it all and my rationale for choosing this was, if I were to buy only ONE lens, which one would serve the majority of my needs?

Well, we know how that turned out.  The 50 APO performance blew me away (even on my "low-resolution" M10-P) and I quickly bought within a few months a 24mm Elmar, a matte black 28mm Summaron, a black chrome 35mm Summicron, and a 50mm Summilux pre-ASPH E46.  To this day, of these five lenses, I still love the 50 APO the most.  Others may aim for more of a vintage character in their renderings but to me, when I think of the 'Leica look', the 50 APO delivers 100%: punchy contrast and micro-contrast with melty bokeh.

It's the first lens I bought and will probably be the last one I own if I ever sell everything else.

"The 50mm APO is brilliant on any Leica.

Just combine it with the 35mm APO and the 75mm Noctilux and you have the perfect set.  Then the following week, just file for bankruptcy."

Can someone tell me if the new 50mm summicron APO is also efficient on the M10?

Common confusion; read the quoted Appendix in the following post…

The M10 is a stellar camera. The 50 APO Summicron is a stellar lens.  The rest is up to you.

The Apo50m is an excellent lens. It works fine with evey M camera. However the benefit of this lens and all the other modern apo lenses is really evident at stop f/2.0. If you take images at f/5.6 every 50mm lens us good

I don't agree with that I’m afraid. The 50APO is noticeably better at 5.6 than all the other lenses as well.

here you can see it compared to Leicas next best 50mm which is the summilux asph. At all apertures the 50APO has better corners.

Taken with the 50 APO. Enjoyed the clarity of the lens. Clinical.
