For simplicity, why don't those of us who want to get together for a drink on Friday evening meet at Voliotiko Tsipouradiko (the same venue as the Saturday lunchtime meet) at say between 6:00 and 7:00pm and then we can either move on, or stay?

+1 for that Tom.

Just sitting in the summer house with a glass of white, thinking about two of our party who I believe at driving to Athens and back.

And looking at the alternative routes and where to stay on the journey.

And tipping my hat to both of them. It’s a bloody long way and if they’re sticking to the motorways, in order to get there before Christmas, it must be a bit mind numbing…

But the company will make up for it 😊

I love a road trip, me, but that’s above and beyond. Which is where we will be on Thursday at 38,000 feet. 😎

Thanks for the largely positive response to this suggestion and confirm we'll (Eileen and I) be there between 6:00 and 7:00pm. Really looking forwarding to catching up with everyone again. Travel safe and hopefully see you Friday night.

Don't know Andy, we drove down to Greece in the early eighties and thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We went down through what at the time was Yugoslavia  and then caught a ferry back to Brindisi and drove up through Italy, Switzerland and France. We did the trip in a British Leyland Princess which was only two weeks old when we set off.

A sign of the times.

We are sitting in one of the BA Club lounges at Terminal 5.

While there are a few people who look like they are on “business”, I’d say at least 3/4 are leisure travellers including families and children. So, there is still plenty of money (or Avios) about.

I haven’t seen a single suit.

We should have come to Athens years ago. So far, it’s 100% positive.

It’s compact, friendly and really interesting.

It’s really good value for eating and drinking even at £/€ parity (I have never had such a poor exchange rate - thanks to Kwarsi)

The correct one is next to Cuba Libre, which is where we will be if the venue is washed out.

P.S. if people pay me €35 each, that will leave a small tip for the restaurant staff. So an extra €1 or 2 would be appreciated by them.

It’s very showery here today. The worst weather of the whole of October !

But spirits are not dampened. 😊

We even went to a funeral today.
