Camera half cases are like Marmite and I really like Marmite

It looks like a nicely made case, though.

The main thing is to get out there and enjoy using your MP, beautiful cameras that only get better with age!

Agreed!!!

Going to try to get out this weekend!!

Looks very nice and practical. Most cases cover some or all of the battery compartment but this doesn’t.

I am not seeing the impracticality in having to remove the half case to replace the battery every three years, especially since  you need to remove it after every 36 shots to replace the film.

My half-cases of choice are the Leica originals.  Unlike most camera brand cases the Leica cases have superb quality leather.

I was referring to the added bulk having a case over the battery cover creates. This case looks to be more comfortable to hold.

It Is pretty  comfy to wear but to tell you the truth  I kind of like wearing my MP  without it.

I went through the trouble of ordering it then waiting  3 months for it to arrive. You can bet I'm going to  use it.

I've never seen  Leica  Case before in person.. I'm sure that the Leather is  above Top Notch.

I have the Leica M6 'never-ready' case and I'm not impressed with it. I also have the Artisan and Artist leather half-case on both my M6s, and they are very nice.  Perhaps not as nice as yours, but 'nice', none-the-less.  A leather half case makes holding the M with a single hand more secured and definitely protects the bottom from bumps and scrapes.

Never-ready-cases have always been for people who don't know how to look after a camera and maybe want to throw it into the boot of the car,  and half-cases are a halfway house, they ask the question 'have you got a camera bag or haven't you'? Leica go out of their way to make the camera compact and owners can do what they like to make it fatter, but better still develop a sense of care and responsibility, otherwise just like the piece of toast dropped on the floor it will always land butter side down.

Many years ago when I bought my first new Leica I also bought the Leica Never-Ready case. I tried it once and it now resides in a cupboard somewhere in the house. I have to say it is a beautiful piece of leather work and, by removing the front cover, can become a half case. However it is far too bulky compared with the Luigi half cases that I use from time to time on my IIId. I like the analogy of the toast falling butter side down, my dog looks forward to that happening.
