So I have checked with Leica Shop and the issue is, they only receive one MP BP piece every couple of months or so and the back order log is so long that they had to take it down from the site. It is NOT being officially discontinued. Hope this ends the discussion.

It makes a change from me ordering my MP in 2002 and completely forgetting I'd done it until my Leica stockist called early 2003 to say it was in now stock and I owed them a lot of money. One of the first, still not needing a CLA, they made them well in those days 😄

I wanted to find one before i went up to Boston  ..  No really a "wire"  perhaps  we'll call it" just in time"

Ahh, I see.  I thought you meant before the BP MP was no longer available, which it should continue to be since it is apparently not discontinued.

Congratulations on the camera!

Hey Logan!!

  Thanks for the Congrats!

I WAS a tad worried about the MP being discontinued- I think that was just because   I had such a hard time finding one.

Now i know  how they're made and how often and how many shops get them I am relaxed.  0563 is my lot number...  Incidentally.

Does anyone know  how to gauge  when it was built?  I have my Cards n things but i don't think it will tell me that

Thanks again.

If anyone is interested, it seems the MP BP is back on AT/DE, UK and US site. Adding the links, respectfully. Now even I am tempted...

https://store.leica-camera.com/uk/en/mp-black-lacquered

All those links show out of stock messages?

A careful scan of this thread shows the issue was about  the MP BP disappearing completely from several mentioned Leica sites. It said "ITEM NO LONGER AVAILABLE" and the BP MP body picture disappeared as well. I have explained why here. Some people thought it was discontinued. Now it is back on all sites, confirming my explanation.

Stock is a differrent issue. You can get one (if you are lucky) in several months or so by ordering today.

Some time ago I ordered and paid for one on a site showing the same message, after taking my payment they informed me they didn't have stock and had no idea if/when they might have. I asked for a refund but only got part of the refund because of GBP-Euro conversion rates. Eventually me credit card company got the rest of my money for me and I bought a used one which I am very happy with. I am now very wary of ads that say "we'll contact you when it comes back in stock. It would be different if they waited until they had one to take your money.

I remember you telling that story before. I have to say I would never order a camera online like this, not an M or other expensive brand. I bought mine from Red Dot Cameras and only after a phone call to make sure they had stock. I was really fortunate as they had one and kept it for me until I had time to come over and fetch it myself. Turned out to be an expensive day because I happened to notice an old Thambar hanging around which left with me too :)

I definitely learned my lesson that time. 👍
