I had better luck with this stationary Great Blue Heron. This is probably just a bit too much distance for a true keeper.

Heron with Cormorants: SL2; Sigma 150-600 at 600mm; f/6.3; 1/1250; ISO 800

Egrets in flight. Before this lens, I would not normally think of a Leica as a wildlife camera.

SL2; Sigma 150-600mm at 600mm; f/6.3; 1/1250; ISO 500. Electronic shutter.

Just enjoying the workability of these Leica files, especially with the new Lightroom masking tool.

Pelicans, Cormorants, ducks, and an Egret at a wildlife preserve here in Los Angeles. SL2, Sigma 150-600mm at 600mm f/6.3, ISO 640, 1/1250 electronic shutter.

I haven't had a chance to test the lens properly in the field yet. I have a safari starting this weekend in SA & then on to Tanzania until late December, I plan to use the lens extensively, mainly on the SL2 & SL2-S.

Taken in my garden, female African Weaver -Leica CL & Sigma 15-600mm @ 480mm = 720mm

First morning on safari at Zuka Game Reserve SA with the Sigma 150-600mm & SL2-S @ 368mm

Sub-adult Martial Eagle (Polemaetus bellicosus) one of the largest & most powerful of the African Eagles. Given the loss of their habitat outside of protected areas, it's extremely encouraging to encounter young Eagles in the wild.

Not sure which is the more potent weapon, the talons or that stare! Thanks for the safari photos, Michael.

More bird photos from California: a white-crowned sparrow and what is likely a robin. (If it weren't for that black bill, I would not hesitate to label it an American Robin.)

SL2 with Sigma 150-600 mm f/5-6.3 at 600mm; f/6.3; ISO 2000 (sparrow), ISO 400 (robin);  1/1250 sec; sharpened with Topaz

Love the Kingfisher image- some of your images seem perfectly sharp like this Kingfisher but the martial eagle less. I am considering this set-up but still not sure. BTW has this setup replaced your canon 400mm f4?
