Any recommendations on Camera Insurance?

I could include it in the household insurance for specific items away from the home, but I'm sure the small print will find a way of not covering me should I ever claim. So was just wondering if there were any recommendations for, or experience of, Photographic Insurers

Here in the US--most major homeowners carriers will cover the claim - just ensure that *your* carrier covers it for all risks.  If it doesn't then you know what is covered and what is not-- "small print" or not.

Specialist photographic equipment Insurers in the UK will provide cover on specific items based on value.  That makes it very expensive.  Expect to pay 3-4 hundred pounds for cover of body and a couple of lenses.   I stopped insuring after a couple of years.  You'll find specialist insurers through a Google search.   Alternatively, you might get good cover on your household insurance but you must comprehensively be covering all household valuables or else any claim will fail due to underinsurance.

I am using Aktivas for insuring all my equipment, and I am very happy with them. They are based in Germany (I am living in Austria). I do not know however if they are able to offer insurance for residents outside the European Union.

I've just had a claim settled for my CL and Lumix that took a bath in a river.

I'm in the UK and insured through household insurance, which I obtain through brokers (Aston Lark). My camera equipment is listed explicitly as a total value, with some individually named high value items (the value threshold tends to change with each specific insurance company). It's insured for foreign holiday travel (some countries excluded); if left in a car it must be out of sight in the boot.

It is years since I had to make a claim. The last time was on my employer's insurance (theft of my M2 + lenses from hold baggage during flying - my cabin baggage was filled with more irreplaceable business documents). The previous time was on holiday - a Pentax MX stolen from the river bank as I swam.

I cant speak for the UK - I live in the US (Washington, DC area).  We rent and I added my cameras to my renters policy with travelers (for $38 a month).  6 days after we got the policy my car window was smashed and someone stole my Ona camera bag with my Leica Q-P in it....travelers not only reimbursed me quickly, but reimbursed me based on the purchase price of a Q2 since the Q-P is no longer available new.  It took maybe 3 weeks but obviously I have no complaints...They also paid me for the bag itself and the various filters I had in it.

Thanks for this! Just insured my Q2 (bought yesterday) with them. It seems the conditions of their coverage are excellent, and it's reasonably priced.
