Tessar. Posted July 25, 2021 Author Share #43  Posted July 25, 2021 The guy (Japan) selling the L-Hex has sent some pics and has described the lens as having "light haze" i.e. invisible to the naked eye but visible with a flashlight shone through the lens. Would you all still consider it? My head is saying get the Elmar-M as there are lots of copies in UK dealers and so an easy return if there are problems. There's another L-Hex in Austria but I may have to pay vat so it goes above £700... a.noctilux Posted July 25, 2021 Share #44  Posted July 25, 2021 My all time strategy is: - buy the most obvious, the closest shop ( for secure and fast transaction) so if some problems occur, someone nearby can help - when later I must sell, the easy to sell (popular object then) is the best buy  @Tessar. your strategy can be different, of course.

In no way but it's just me and i'm an Elmar-M lover. I mean Elmar-M, not Elmar but you know the difference i guess. BTW if you like Tessar lenses as i do you should like the Elmar-M too. The best 50mm triplet ever made IMHO.
a.noctilux Posted July 25, 2021 Share #46  Posted July 25, 2021 Seen this Hexanon 2.4/50, Vienna, Austria is it the one you talked about, Tessar ? I don't have experience, but interesting lens. MFD is 80cm, strange for LTM lens (most has 1m) Welcome, dear visitor! I do like a good Tessar lens. I really like the one on my Contaflex II (45mm) the rendering is just like a gentle version of the Contax SLR lenses I used to use. The L-Hex is attractive for me because of it's a pure 6/4 configuration of moderate speed. Double Gauss then i guess. Always preferred triplets like Tessar and Elmar but it is matter of taste obviously.

Very true - and may not be cleanable... And Vat too, payable at source from Ebay, which makes it cheaper than the old way though because no UPS brokerage fee... ...but it's looking less and less like a good idea :). Boris (Leica from) has one too which is "As new" and Boxed for the same price as the other one. I did buy a 28mm M-Hex from him once which was indeed "As new", so I would probably trust him. Again the Vat.  No Vat on the Elmar-Ms as they are plentiful in the UK
