I want to print bigger and go full frame as explained above.  I likely would make good use of a Q2.  I already have a CL with an assortment of lenses, shoot between 60-200 pics a week.  But the fact of the matter is the CL isn't weather sealed and I live about 1km from the beach and never take the camera on it for fear of sand and salt air gunking up the electronics.  Even walking by the beach, a fair amount of sand works its way into everything.
Also, the thing to my eye that Leica's offer over the more reasonably priced competitors is a "look" that the Q2 really delivers in a weather sealed package that is compact and won't lead to financial ruination through lens purchases.

She's come around by the way. .  .

As a married man, I can assure you:  In said advice lies the express lane to hell.  😳

As a friend once told me concerning “discussions” with a wife. You must decide early in marriage do you want to be right or do you want to be happy? I suggest happy. 😁

Well... why not offer her the Q2 and buy the last iphone for you (13 should soon come out) then as she will prefer the iphone you just have to exchange !!!!

In marriage the best is put things straight from the beginning: each one does as he pleases with what is left of what he earns once common expenses are paid for. Maybe the best is not getting married 🤪

basically impossible, so just square it with yourself

I’m not saying be selfish or self important etc but just start living with your decisions, they are you, warts n all

When I used to buy custom-made bicycles, I'd buy a piece of jewelry for my wife in the same color as the bike.

My point is to be pro-active. Explain why this camera really scratches your itch and see if there's something you can buy for her that will do the same.

Well, guess what, SHE bought me the Q2.  So shame on me. . .  She was trying to keep it a surprise!!

And guess what?  It blows the screens off of any cell phone camera and I suspect will continue to do so for a long while.

Ken Rockwell be damned.  His Q2 tutorial video shows the guy has some serious sour grapes!

Congratulations!  As for your wife, she is obviously a keeper.

And why do YOU want a Q2...............?

That is the right question. What do you want to do more with the pictures than with the CL?

Weather sealing would be not an argument for me. The cameras were not sealed for 200 years and survived beach photography. How long will it last by the way.

This might be heresy, but what do we say to a spouse who sends this link to us when we announce plans to get a Q2?  It's a pretty good chunk of change and we have agreed to "approve" each other's purchases over the years.

When I look at the first two photos (comparison), the iPhone's picture is clearly the "better" one.

I even go so far as to say that under normal circumstances (light), the viewer cannot distinguish between the two.

Rockwell's supposed "exposé" of how the Q2 produces bad results is a load of Sus scrofa feces.  Comparing images from JPG files on computer screens is an exercise in futility.  JPG files have a purpose in the scheme of things, but using them to evaluate the final image quality of a camera/lens is not it.  His evaluation of the images is based on his opinion and personal taste, not on fact:

The Q2 shot looks bad. Even at -0.6 stops compensation the JPG lost the highlights; look at the tips of the palm trunk and the house on the right. The Q2's colors are kind of yucky and uninviting. It's a nice, sharp photo, but doesn't look as good - to me - as my iPhone snap.

Of course you could play with the raw files until you're blind. I tried the Q2 DNG in Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop CS6. I was easily able to recover the highlights and lift the dark shadows, but even after all that effort the colors are still not impressive at all; it's still a yuckier photo with yellow tinges in the palm trunk compared to the better-looking photo that comes from my iPhone with all it's processing power to do all this for me....

"Yucky??"  LMAO.  Now he sounds like he is in the second grade.   And then he asks us to give him free money for publishing a shallow and unprofessional review.  🙄

Print big is what I want to do. Need the pixels for that.

The Q2 and Q2M's 47 mp sensors are a great place to start.

With my M-P 240, I can print up to 24x36 inches and get good results, even better results at 16x24 inches.

The Q2 cameras should go up to twice those sizes with very high printed image quality.

Rockwell’s site is a joke. Seriously - he admits it himself, or he used to. Maybe he makes enough money from people taking him seriously that he’s decided to pretend like it’s not a joke now.

Re Q2 and all Leica:

Ninety percent of my Leica purchases over the past 48 years have been used gear bought from two trusted dealers with only one item that turned out to have a problem.

It is something to consider for a Q2 purchase; keeping dealers happy keeps Leica happy, IMHO.
