jaapv Posted June 29, 2021 Share #3 Posted June 29, 2021 Thumbie. Because it leaves the hot shoe free. 2
pop Posted June 29, 2021 Share #4 Posted June 29, 2021 Leica Thumb support because it's easily removed. Importance of hot shoes much overrated, IMHO.

wda Posted June 29, 2021 Share #6 Posted June 29, 2021 None. I much prefer using the Leica handgrip and cradling the lens with my left hand.
Guytou Posted June 29, 2021 Share #7 Posted June 29, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the Leica thumb (it was with the camera) and it goes very well with the Artisan & Artist half case. I also have the Leica grip but do not use it. Guytou

AdHox Posted June 30, 2021 Share #9 Posted June 30, 2021 Something non-Leica that fits the hot shoe - I can’t check the brand because the CL is at the clinic being checked following a fall that shattered my lens. 😥 I don’t have a Leica-compatible flash unit, so I don’t miss the hot shoe. Maybe if I buy a flash I’ll revisit the thumb rest.
Guytou Posted June 30, 2021 Share #10 Posted June 30, 2021 Personally, I don't use a flash all the time. And if I have to use a flash for a few photos, the thumb rest is very quickly removed ... Guytou
dfdann Posted June 30, 2021 Share #11 Posted June 30, 2021 Lim’s thumb grip fits hot shoe and works well for me. Well made. Really helps on TL 55-135. Dan
lawman Posted June 30, 2021 Share #12 Posted June 30, 2021 Thumbie - attach and forget - leaves hot shoe free - works well with handgrips and heavier lenses.
JHPINLA Posted July 2, 2021 Share #13 Posted July 2, 2021 "Haoge HG-CLB Hand Grip Bracket Holder Designed for Leica CL Camera Body" Mounts using bottom thread so doesn't obscure hot shoe. Has cutout to access battery and SD card. Very comfortable to use with a wrist strap I bought separately from Peak Design. Best of all it is only $60 from Amazon. I use the same. solid so far. doesn't block the right dial. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SG4HZQR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=
Camaro5 Posted July 2, 2021 Share #16 Posted July 2, 2021 Been trying to figure out if I really want one of these thumb supports and how useful it really is. I'd go with the Haoge HG-CLB Hand Grip Bracket Holder if I didn't already have a half-case that I really like. It's kind of a toss-up between the Haoge THB-CB & the Lin. Might just order one from Amazon and if I don't like it I can always return it.

I have the haoge AND a half case. and it is amazing. the thumb support does not touch the edges - if that makes sense. like you said though - order it from Amazon and hey ho - free returns! Camaro5 Posted July 4, 2021 Share #18 Posted July 4, 2021 Amazon had a Leica thumb support listed at 95% of original condition for $129 with a free return through KEH. Pulled the trigger on that one and even though it's still a ridiculous price for what it is, it seemed to be the smallest out of the ones I looked at. I have my dials set up so exposure compensation is on the right. I use that a lot with the highlight warning (blinkies) for daylight shooting at car shows so I don't think the thumb rest will be much of an adjustment, but we'll see. nicci78 Posted July 5, 2021 Share #19 Posted July 5, 2021 None. Because they get in the way into using the two dials with your thumb. Just get the handgrip only.
