Hi, i’m wondering whether purchasing rhe voigtlander 28mm f2 ii or the elmarit 28mm asph ii. Have anyone tried both and do a comparison between them?

I am a big fan of Voigtlander lenses, I own quite a few of them but not the 28mm Ultron, but the 28mm Elmarit is a "jewel" of a lens, one of the best of Leica's line-up for a long time. All things being equal, which of course they're not in this imperfect Leica World, I'd go for the Elamrit.

The lens was a black paint version. Some people are interested in that. I leave the black chrome body test to you.

Sorry Al, I couldn't resist!.....But what neckstrap was used?

There I go again!

Actually, on the M10-R topic, I've just found a demo R at a ridiculous discount, full warranty etc etc.......Not interested in the M11 at this time but I'm very tempted in regards to the R.

Cheers!

I haven't tried the Elmarit, but I had the Summicron Asph II and sold it after testing it side by side with the Ultron Asph II. The Ultron II is a tiny lens with a great performance.

Check out the test images I have uploaded here:

I recently purchased the 28mm Ultron type ii and finally have a day off today to walk around to do some shooting. I was in the same process as you &I went with the Ultron type ii due to its small size , brass construction and price. I figure for that price range I can't loose. Purchased from a dealer so I can return if it does not meet my standards and I have money left in the lens budget to buy a different focal length or I'm more than halfway to getting the elmarit.

My VC 28mm f2 Ultron arrived today......what a great lens.

I sold my little used Summicron 28mm f2 ASPH and replaced it with the Voigtlander f2. I love the almost "no VF blockage", ( which was the main reason I sold the 'cron ). I don't have a lens hood for it yet, may not get one, but for those that do have the hood what is the VF blockage like?

I tested it against the sun etc. at the time after I got it. The tests convinced me that a lens hood isn't necessary.

Hi, with a cheap screw-in hood you have some blockage, but you can see through it somewhat :

I also have a bayonet fitted hood, which is a little smaller, but solid, no see trough ...

The bokeh is really appealing for a 28mm lens!
The Ultron "pop" too and the compactness anyway ...

Replaced my 28 Elmarit IV with the new Ultron 28; didn't you have that too?
The Elmarit also had a comparatively good bokeh.
How do you see the differences in this respect between the two?

Hi, maybe, I should show a 28 BBC (Bokeh Ball Comparison) sometime ...

Hi, I am an avid BBC listener: Radio 4, and Steve Reich's Sunday Love-songs ... ---

Now the Bokeh Ball Comparison here. To some it might look like an exercise in Advanced Esoterics, but I did it for me, because I was not sure how smooth the new Ultron's

bokeh balls were. My Nokton 1,2/35 v1 shows onion rings. (All lenses maximally open.)

The new Ultron shows no onion rings! All lenses perform quite similarly here. Which means: when you compare quality lenses you will find only minor differences ...

Some people may think I am dealing with a luxury problem. True, in a way. But I always select luxury problems, when I have the choice ...😀

Thanks, but I thought more in direction of the bokeh (back-, foreground) and not the balls!
Bu they are also different - Thanks again!
