carylwithay Posted August 28, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I shot the eclipsed moon and then the foggy city below and pasted them together. It seemed the best way to show the very red moon which was very tiny because i used a noctilux. It is fairly clear, though and the color is really as it was so i wanted to share it. It is a very rare eclipse. Caryl

Guest lykoudos Posted August 28, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 28, 2007 Hello Caryl, Really, a rare and strange atmosphere. It seems to me, how if the whole conditions were pulled in slowly into a nebula suction, in which it sinks completely. The moon: like a lamp screen, illuminated by the lighting of the multistoried building. Greeting Wolfgang
fotografr Posted August 28, 2007 Share #4 Posted August 28, 2007 Very effective. Nice job of combining the two images (moon placement, exposure, etc.).
billh Posted August 28, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 28, 2007 This has a very pretty, but mysterious look. Nice image!
stuny Posted August 28, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 28, 2007 Caryl - I know I commented on this before -- Must have clicked the wrong button. I see two things as giving this wonderful image its success, and I do think it is a success. One is the placement of the buildings and the moon, and the other is the dominant colors of the city and the warm color of the moon. Excellent. carylwithay Posted August 28, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted August 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you all so very much. I was up until 4:30 AM playing with the moon. Glad I got something out of it. Caryl
LichMD Posted August 28, 2007 Share #8 Posted August 28, 2007 Caryl, a lovely and atmospheric photo. Great job of pasting these images together and capturing the mood of the moment. I'm a little upset I didn't capture this as well, since I'm out in the Bay area for work and I was on a conference call at 4 AM.
carylwithay Posted August 29, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted August 29, 2007 We are leaving for Alaska in the morning or I should meet you for coffee and tell you all the wonderful places to shoot. Do try to get the the Palace of Fine Arts. It is my very favorite place to visit and shoot. Caryl

tobey bilek Posted August 31, 2007 Share #13 Posted August 31, 2007 Very nice mood shoot. I dislike the yellow green cast. I got rid of some, but if you have a raw file and select all but the moon, you can do better.
carylwithay Posted August 31, 2007 Author Share #14 Posted August 31, 2007 Tobey, I prefer my colors. Caryl
stuny Posted August 31, 2007 Share #15 Posted August 31, 2007 I do too. They are more like what I remember from a foggy night in San Fransico.
