didier Posted June 10, 2021 Author Share #24 Â Posted June 10, 2021 Dear all, I just received my new Elmar-M 24. I was a little bit surprised there is no "ring" to wind on the lens when you remove the Lense shade (there is one with the 35 FLE) : is this normal or is it missing ? thanks for your answers Didier

wda Posted June 10, 2021 Share #27 Â Posted June 10, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have you double-checked the lens instructions which describes the accessories included and where to find them? I do not have your lens type, but I have found that often the ring is secreted in the lens case or outer packing.
Gregm61 Posted June 10, 2021 Share #28 Â Posted June 10, 2021 The ring on mine was very well hidden. I posted similarly here back when I bought mine, then found it in the packing later.

Dear all, I got the answer from the Dealer who asked Leica about the ring : they apparently told him there is no ring ? I was quite surprised… Nothing more than this in the package : Welcome, dear visitor! Herr Barnack Posted June 18, 2021 Share #32  Posted June 18, 2021 One of my M lenses - I think it was the 21mm f/3.4 - had the the ring hidden in the leather zip case. It was under a piece of gray foam in the very bottom of the case. Take a look there. If you don't find it there, look in the top of the case for a thin sheet of gray foam. It may be hidden under there.
lct Posted June 18, 2021 Share #33 Â Posted June 18, 2021 I have not the 24/3.8 box with me but the ring of the 28/2 v2 fits nicely if you need one.
RoySmith Posted June 19, 2021 Share #34  Posted June 19, 2021 I checked my 24/3.8 box and lens case and no ring. I put a protective clear filter on the lens so I never looked for a ring before.
Gobert Posted June 19, 2021 Share #35  Posted June 19, 2021 The ring is at the bottom. Hidden in the foam of the leather pouch. You can feel it with your finger.

beewee Posted July 5, 2021 Share #38  Posted July 5, 2021 (edited) This was shot on the M10 with 24mm Elmar. Post #5541 The 24mm Elmar is, by far, my most used and most favourite M lens. The 24mm focal length is wide enough to give a perspective of the background which shows the subject in its environment. It is wide but not so wide that people get distorted unless they are at the very edge of the frame. I find the 24mm perspective to reflect very much what my eyes see when I have both eyes open and it is very easy to shoot with hyperfocus between f/5.6 to f/8. The large depth of field also reflects how my eyes see the world in wide open spaces for landscapes. When shot with hyper focusing, I’m able to point and shoot without having to manually focus with the range finder and I can often frame accurately without even looking through the Visoflex for spontaneous shots. With this form of shooting, I can get a capture the moment faster than anyone with a phone or autofocusing camera. The 24mm, shot at f/8 with manual exposure allows me to focus solely on the framing and composition. Welcome, dear visitor!
