Advertisement Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Hi Linford, Take a look here M10-D Monochrom / M10M-D. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a.noctilux Posted May 9, 2021 Share #2 Posted May 9, 2021 Hello Linford, this would be ultimate Monochrom for me ...some years ago. I had waited for it for long. For a while, I don't wait for that "would-be" anymore, as having the two first Monochrom for some years now, M10M-D if released one day wouldn't even tempt me 😉. Now I don't even need to resist 😇.
AndreasG Posted May 9, 2021 Share #3 Posted May 9, 2021 How many customers would Leica reach with a M10M-D? I guess not sufficient to justify any investment in such a project.

didier Posted May 9, 2021 Share #6 Posted May 9, 2021 This would have been my dream digital M as well. I was told by a Leica rep they will never come out with the niche within a niche camera, so I bought the M10M and must admit 1) I am very happy and 2) I almost never use the screen

rtai Posted May 11, 2021 Share #8 Posted May 11, 2021 What a missed opportunity. I own an MP and really appreciate the M-A if I can afford one these days. If only Leica can in the same spirit issue a non battery dependent, meterless M10M I would be over the moon. Give me a modern black paint M3 without the battery and all the electronics just a 60mp sensor please.

And how do you think a digital sensor would work without a battery? What energy source do you have in mind?

a.noctilux Posted May 11, 2021 Share #11 Posted May 11, 2021 M-D 262 that I use for a while is the closest to battery-INdependent digital M as possible. Two or three weeks of use without thinking "battery". M10M-D with smaller M10 style battery may last a quite bit less, but may it be "long enough" as M10-D now (without using 020 or wifi though ) !

Ask the guy who made the Youtube clip where he got his M10D, it seems it can do anything, maybe even operate without a battery.
mdemeyer Posted May 18, 2021 Share #13 Posted May 18, 2021 I’ve got it... a faux film advance lever the turns a small generator and charges a capacitor with enough power for one exposure... 😃

As per your suggestion but with some tweaks, single stroke advance lever would not be enough but a a winder bolted to the bottom of the camera could work and provide required power by spinning small generator inside the M body. You will need batteries for your winder which could be charged via power grid suppling your domestic socket...hang on a minute is this not getting out of hand 🙃

Q is always be a gateway to Leica world, so the market is filled with new users from other brands or a real new users to photography. M is mostly for an existing Leica users, or a simple photographer that needs only joys in taking a photos (without any gimmick). I bought M10D, and really hate the gimmick thumbs up, and so in the end hate using it.
