It is a good idea to suggest new features and bug fixes but (risking to be a pessimist), from past experience, this forum has nothing to do with the firmware technicians and I wouldn't personally waste a lot of energy on creating lists with features here. There is an option to submit feedback in the Leica mobile app, but even there you will most probably receive a response like "Thanks for your feedback we will consider it" and nothing more will happen.

True as that may be (and I am sure it is), it doesn't hurt to try, even if it is only to see what this user group values as welcome additions to the camera. The regular way is a solitary path; this may become an avenue (man, I feel poetic today!).

Requesting ability to place Copyright, photographer name, or other user created, short text statement into EXIF data to be saved with image.

You can do this as a Preset in Lightroom on Import. Much more info can be added here.

It is such an established Forum tradition to do so - a  bit like a ritual dance   Let's not discourage it  ;)

I don't think this is a firmware issue. It is likely a hardware issue and the Q2 may not be able to handle it. Would be nice though:)

I think you are correct.  Q2 has pixel shift and the SL2 has sensor shift.

Second update of features with everything so far:

Bug Fixes

1. Folder renaming after firmware update, i.e. image numbering should continue from the last one taken/named instead of reverting to the beginning and having to jump through hoops to reset...

2. ...

Features

1. Digital Zoom implementation (yes, I know I have mentioned it before...) - give users the option to use the frame lines or the magnification of the image of 35, 50 or 75 mm to fill the screen.

2. Perspective control a la M series, nothing more to add here!

3. Real behavior Back Button Focus. AF-On style, like Nikon implementation.

4. Overlay of a previous photo in the EVF - seems like it could be handy when you are planning to merge shots and don't have a tripod to ensure consistent composition

5. Metering mode to expose for the highlights (Highlight-weighted metering)

6. App coupling, for geotagging, to be more reliable (to the person who posted this, a bit more information on this would be nice)

7. Ability to place Copyright, photographer name, or other user created, short text statement into EXIF data to be saved with image.

8. Square format offered with the same implementation as the 35, 50 and 75 digital crops.

I actually emailed Leica a few times with feature suggestions.  Perhaps people there would be a little more receptive when many people sign on here.

My feature wish list:

eye tracking AF (or at least more stick and smarter face detect).

Lossless RAW/DNG format.  Smaller JPG file size option (fine vs. standard).

Correct file size at digital zoom (e.g., 75mm crop at small JPG should yield a 7MP file, not a fraction of small JPG file).

Bluetooth connection with phone for geotag.

actually on the SL2-S, it works very well, and can maintain some specular highlight points, if you're in M mode

Just to prove the point that we are all different, I dislike highlight weighted metering and will never use it. If you use exposure simulation in the EVF be prepared for erratic and distracting sudden and large changes in EVF brightness. The histogram serves exactly the same purpose without being distracting.

At least they made it optional.

And I'd like a 65/24 format (panorama) that still retains 50% of your megapixels, as per my GFX100S.

I've always found (in all cameras/phones) the panning method a bit hit and miss

When hip shooting using AF, often the AF picks up the background instead of a possible subject.

If we could have a focus range limiter, that can be configured to focus within a range 0-5m or something - pop it in FN menu for quick change.

Yes, I like the idea of the focus range limiter.

In addition, it might be nice to have another function where the autofocus is disabled and the camera adjusts the focus such that the DOF reaches infinity. As you are adjusting the aperture, the camera will refocus to always give you the maximal DOF until infinity. Currently, you have to switch to manual focus and adjust the focus such that the infinity symbol is at the right side of the DOF bracket on the lens for a given aperture. Having this automated could be helpful for street and landscape photography...

re 12.

I was under the impression that using the phone app with location setting on, the Leica app currently does allow for geotagging the pictures.  It doesn't always work because of connection issues and stability would be nice, but it is already here.

Could you explain further?  When the app connects to Q2, the camera enters to this WIFI mode for transfer or remote control.  The second I press shutter to use the camera normally, Q2 exits the connected mode.  The only use of the BT seems to be waking up camera's WIFI.  Is there an option to maintain BT for geotag only?

allow reduced JPEG resolution for different focal lengths, for example 12MP for every focal length, or reduced MP (like 24MP) for 28mm but still 24MP for 35mm etc.

Unfortunately right now you can just change ALL resolutions by a factor. Doesn‘t make sense to change the 75mm to 8MP only because you dont want 45MP 28mm pics!

Totally agree with reduced JPG resolution.  For S JPG, the 75mm crop should not be reduced with the same factor.

On a separate note, I think Jaapv is correct regarding Leica reading this forum.  I have sent request to Leica, through the app, multiple times for firmware feature updates.  Got very polite responses, but features were not added.

I will have to dig into my photos to see if this is also recorded with the EXIF.

This is what was posted on the forum when version 2.1 came out.

I remember being able to find location when I took pictures using the app.  I am not as sure that it worked when the camera had been connected but was being used manually.  I do know that my iPhone tells me that the Leica app is using my location information.
