My baseplate sticker is still in place (the new one that Leica put back that is) and I've protected it with a Kirk Arca plate thingy🙂. Must get around to cleaning it - photographs so show up the dust.

I removed the protective film on my M10 bottom plate a few weeks ago. It started to peeling out after two years, and I recently finished the job. Now it's smoother and less annoying. Scratches? Maybe, Who cares. The cameras are for use, and my custom M10 know it.

Hope you've cleaned it since 2011 😛

Might have (said in a deesive tone of voice). I'm not very good at that sort of thing. Filters are useful because I tend to clean them with whatever I'm wearing if they need to be cleaned. They are disposable eventually (though surprisingly robust these days). Cameras get used and always seem to attract dust in the less accessible nooks and crannies.

FWIW if anyone realy want protection then there are products like this: https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/p/dc/v000137254/

Andreas, please set up a survey for peelers vs non-peelers and we'll see who here is OCD.

So I'll confess: I'm generally a protective plastic remover but I've never taken it off a Leica baseplate.
Maybe I'll challenge myself and take them all off this weekend. Or maybe not

Not.

Couldn't do it 😪

I propose: Leica to exchange the environmental questionable plastic protective sticker with a hand crafted full brass 5 mm thick metal protector, also available as an aftermarket item for let's say € 899 or $ 1099 or £ 969 ...

Ps my sticker is still on

The weight loss from ugly bottom protector and associated warning label removal was worth the effort.  Rubbing alcohol does a good job.  Not to mention the micro high one gets while doing the job.
