Hola amigos:

Cuál es tu opinión...

Gracias

Hello friends:

I bought my Leica TL2 camera and it came with the original silicone strap, which I found to be very stiff and I opted to buy the Leica leather strap, which was more flexible and manageable.

I admit that I am a bit picky because when I pull out the TL2 camera to take photos, the strap always comes out crooked and I don't like it at all. (View photo):

In addition, it rolls easily on the hand and wrist, providing security against a possible fall of the camera.

I have noticed that Leica sells straps made from 100cm mountaineering ropes. and 120cm, long and with a diameter of 9 to 10cm, very resistant and designed by COOPH, which sells for € 75 of € 1m and does not have the problem of the leather straps that I indicated above.

There are other rope straps that are not Leica and are much cheaper and that you see in the ads similar to the Leica.

Does this higher Leica price make up for it with better grip, design and quality?

Has anyone tried any of these straps? .....

What is your opinion...

Thanks

i've tried 3 rope straps, mostly because i'm stubborn and wanted one to work. but see those 'tabs' of leather where the strap attaches? those are stiff and completely block your access to controls on right and left top of the camera including the shutter button. even after two failures i even tried again with my new q2 and got a vivant (?) strap which is one of the higher quality of the under $100 models. this improved one claimed their tabs were so flexible they wouldn't be in the way and indeed they bent easier than the earlier ones, but still obstructed the controls.

i then tried a rock'n'roll strap due to extremely favorable reviews and i liked it a lot, but it just wasn't long enough to carry sling style with the camera on my hip. plus, it was stiffer than i expected--the leather wasn't the highest quality. worse, it was 'sticky' and when used sling style it wouldn't slide around your shoulders when you brought the camera into play.

so what did i end up with? i usually run my peak system straps and anchors on my other cameras, but this looks ridiculous on the q2. so i paid on obscene price for an overgaard leather strap and even paid $30 extra for the 145cm version vs the default 125cm version. i've only had it a few days and only one outing. but it's a delight. exactly the right length, looks good with the orange edge (yosemite version), and the italian calfskin even smells heavenly. best part is that it's many times more supple than the r&r strap and will slide to allow you to easily swing the camera to the front, but stays put while you're carrying it.

believe me, i'm a huge investor in the peak system of bags and straps and tripod and clips and anchors and nearly all my cameras in use have peak anchors on them and some have the tripod quick mount and i keep 3 straps (slide lite, slide, and the wide one) ready to attach to whichever one i'm taking out. so of course i thought i'd use the q2 with the system as well, but for some reason the anchors and the strap just clashed with the q2 although i have no issue with the cl. and i'm hardly one to have much fashion sense--i'm more of 'whatever works best'. but in the case of the q2 i decided that looks mattered at least a little. and the strap i got hangs the camera at the exact length and angle that the peak straps would, but is about half the width and looks more elegant.

Thanks for comment.

I saw this video. I really liked the strap it wears and the ease of movement it provides. I searched the internet and saw that the Leica had the highest price.
Possibly buy a rope strap, in theory and for price the leica would be the best.
Unless I get some advice that convinces me.

@Dopaco I got the 126cm Cooph/Leica rope strap which is perfect for my use. Long enough to carry sling-style across my body and very flexible and soft so it doesn’t cause any friction when I pull it up to my eye.

My problem with all these straps is that I don't like scratchy metal rings against my camera.

all 3 of the rope straps i've bought have come with leather pads which go over your eyelets to keep the split rings from contacting the camera. but i'll bet some leave those off in order to try to get the leather tabs out of their way although, imo, that's a losing battle.

i posted about getting an overgaard strap, but full disclosure, with the rings he supplied they would touch the camera at a couple of very narrow angles and even that was too often for me even if it never or rarely happened so i replaced those rings with ones from a rope strap which were slightly smaller and with those i can't find an angle where there's metal-to-metal contact. but with the overgaard strap, the thick leather where the rings mount protects the camera, so need for the flaps.

there is a quite cheap strap sold under the leica brand for about $50 which has unique connectors where you can just squeeze and turn them to release the strap very quickly. i wish some strap makers would steal or license this because those connectors can't really be used on regular split ring straps. but the leica strap is designed for front of body and is way too short to enable sling carry and it has a 6-8" sort of rubbery sticky segment designed so it won't move around your neck. and the materials seem very very cheap and its construction doesn't inspire trust.

I totally agree with you, although with a little DIY you have an easy solution.

AliExpress straps do not have that problem and only cost 10 or 11 euros, although their low price is a bit scary.

I have ordered one here of 100 cm.
For this price one can risk:

I have ordered one here of 100 cm.
For this price one can risk:

The 126cm Leica COOPH, I don't dislike the color and it's the best price I've ever seen.

So that the Leica COOPH cannot scratch the camera with the metal ring, I will say what I do to prevent that from happening.

I have ordered a 126cm here, to see differences and in case one day I want to wear it as a shoulder bag.

overgaard leather strap and even pai

I did the same for my M10. Beautiful, excellent quality, supple. I also tried various rope straps but they typically had a thick end at the connection to the camera which interfered with hand placement.

I bought this rope strap on eBay for use on another (cheaper) camera because it was less than £20 and available as 1.2m. How tiny do you have to be to wear a 1m strap?

The quality is knockout. Absolutely incredible for the money and a really nice guy to deal with.

The metal parts are kept away from the camera body by the Artisan & Artist half-case (there's one on clearance at RedDot right now). And I'm using 2 split rings each side because it's MUCH easier to link & unlink than going direct to the camera fixing lugs.

Sorry about the iPad pic.

that strap is an excellent value and i wish more would incorporate those quick release 'rings'. and i have one, but it's 42" which is fine for frontal  carry but doesn't work for sling carry. my current strap is 57" long--a full 15" longer.

I got the strap that I show in the photo in Meister Camera for € 75, plus shipping, now I see that they have it for € 80, (LEICA rope strap by Cooph, gray, 126 cm or 126 / 2.54 = 50 "). .

https://www.meister-camera.com/de/produkt/9261/leica-rope-strap-cooph-gray-126cm

It comes in a very well prepared Leica case and has a very robust appearance, it does not have a protective tab so that the ring does not rub against the metal of the camera and can scratch it. I had to do it with a piece of black leather, as seen in the photo.

Crossed in bandolier.

Hanging from the neck:

The TL2 camera is very handy and well protected and looks nice with the recently purchased Elmarit TL 18mm F2.8 Lens and accessories shown in the photo.

Greetings
