The 21 lux is of course a Karbe masterpiece, Erwin Puts even said in one of his articles that "If you compare the 1.4/21 with the 0.95/50mm you see comparable quality."

I have thought that I would rather possess a Summilux-M 21mm ASPH, than a Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95, even if the price of acquisition were the same, so, that Erwin Puts quote is quite interesting, and affirming.

It is not good for my bank account, to see this discussion, and the wonderful images.

Summilux 21mm f/1.4 f1.4, 1/25" handheld (M10-P, ISO 320) -- not technically perfect by a long shot but good example how well this lens performs under such boundary conditions (biggest issue is motion blur with people in the back moving)

I'm super curious how this lens compare with VM 21/1.4  If anyone have these 2 lenses please post a side by side?

I have both and the VM 21/1.4 is the bargain of the century if you love sharpness and contrast at f1.4. Attached are two at 1.4 from the VM made with the M8.2.

Another from the VM at f1.4 with M8.2. Just lens testing no high art:)

This is from the 21mm Summilux at f1.4. I love this lens and will say it is worth the money over the VM. If you are the type who adds sharpness and contrast to post processing then go for the VM. Also notice the bokeh. This lens sings in b/w. Leica M8.2.

Where is Stephen? He’s the real expert.

I prefer Summilux versions of Leica wide angles because of the subtleties and tones akin to the classic Carl Zeiss look. On the other hand Elmarit or Elmar versions are about sharpness and contrast. I think the VM looks like the Elmar. Here’s the Summilux at f1.4 with M10M. I have posted this elsewhere. The lower contrast works well with b/w.

Night scenes are high contrast so Summilux lenses are better matched with its lower contrast. Here’s another candid street shot at f1.4 with M10M. I do very little post processing.

Do you mean VM 21/1.4 is sharper or... it's very confused of what you've said.
