This image was taken in Trier, Germany, the oldest city of Germany. It was founded by the Romans more than 2000 years ago. The Romans governed the western part of their empire from "Augusta Treverorum", as they called it. We also have good a climate for wine grapes but not quite as good as yours. I should point out that my area (Madison, Wisconsin) was settled by a good number of your countrymen. Thank you so much for the education. As to the point of focus, that's it. As has been pointed out ad nauseam, when this lens is shot wide open it will not produce a tack sharp result. That's not the object. When shot wide open at MFD, the zone of focus is roughly 1/8th inch. This is obviously not the kind of image that appeals to you. To each his own. In the other photo, the white flowers are snowdrops. Of course, you already knew that. The focus was on them, not on the Blue Stars, which I'm sure you also knew. Peter, please allow us to enjoy this thread of shots to taken with the new 50 1.2 Noctilux, which to many of us is a 'very' interesting lens and which have been shared for us to enjoy. I was clear to me that at full aperture, nothing in the image was tack sharp, however, the out of focus areas were very appealing to me. Stopped down, it becomes a different lens altogether. Having taking a bit of flack the other day for my "blurry" images, I decided to post a couple of examples of how much difference there is in just a couple of stops. First, back to the daffodil--one shot at f/1.2 and the other at f/2.8. I knew the character of this lens going in and have no regrets whatsoever about the performance. fotografr Posted April 5, 2021 Share #200 Posted April 5, 2021 (edited) Another comparison I decided to do was something with print, in order to show the difference in sharpness of the letters between f/1.2 and f/2.8. If sharpness was the only consideration, I'd be shooting with the 50 APO or the new 35 APO. However, I'm willing to give up a bit of that in order to get the artistic and, in my opinion, beautiful out of focus areas. Welcome, dear visitor!
