Most pleasing are fully circular bokeh balls, the "cats eye" shape isn't as pleasing. This lens renders closer to the fully circular balls which is a plus.

The lens certainly resolves details not easily visible to the human eye. When I look at the camera, the dust around the shutter speed dial is hardly visible.

Sure, will include some 1.4 shots in. Will be interesting to see how the close focus increases the subject isolation + the overall falloff/bokeh, which are some of the f1.4 advantages.

According to my DoF calculator:

35mm f/1.4 at 0.7m: DOF = 5.06 cm

35mm f/2.0 at 0.3m: DOF = 1.22 cm !!

At f/2.0 and 60 cm the DOF is 5.21 cm. So only 10 cm closer is enough to compensate for one less f-stop.

Thanks! Can you get pixel level sharpness on the corners?

I was thinking about the 35 APO SL but the main reason is for the image quality. But if the 35 APO M is just as good on the SL2-S then I would prefer the smaller size and the fact that I can use it on my M10 as well.

This kind of question is what you pay Sean Reid his $35 annual fee for.  He's covered all that in a current 21 page article.
