The 7A 28/1.4 happens to be both a honker and a good lens IMO. tedd Posted February 7, 2021 Share #25  Posted February 7, 2021 I currently adapt a Nikkor 20mm 3.5 when I want wide angle, but sometimes wish for something smaller/rangefinder coupled/focuses in correct direction. Are any of these mentioned better than others on a digital M/SL?
AndreasG Posted February 7, 2021 Share #26 Â Posted February 7, 2021 One of my favourites is the Zeiss ZM Distagon 18mm/4.

Are any of these mentioned better than others on a digital M/SL? I would think the modern Voigtlander lenses are your best bet for good performance on digital.  the 21/3.5 and 21/1.4 are both relatively new and perform well on Leica M and Sony (better to get the Sony mount version for best performance here). The 21/1.4 is supposed to be very good.

There's a store in HK with 2 copies right now, one "NIB" and the other mint-minus. I had been curious about this lens for quite a few years and monitoring it's prices for more than 3 years and then finally got it 2 years ago. Definitely no regrets.

Anakronox Posted February 8, 2021 Share #32  Posted February 8, 2021 I own the Voigtlander 21mm f/1.8 and I really like it in my modern lens kit.  If I could fault it one thing, it’s the non-removable hood.  Otherwise, the image quality is excellent across my M10, M10M, and SL2.
Stephen.s1 Posted February 8, 2021 Share #33  Posted February 8, 2021 Looking around for a WA for my M10P. The Zeiss Distagon 15mm f/2.8 caught my eye. A Leicaish price ($4,600) makes me wonder just how good it is. Have any of you used this?

I haven't used it but I believe it's not rangefinder coupled so you would need to zone focus or use the Visoflex 020 or perhaps the LCD screen to focus the lens. Pete. pippy Posted February 8, 2021 Share #36 Â Posted February 8, 2021 The only non-Leica "28mm or under" I have is the 28mm f2 Voigtlander Ultron. It is a superb performer. Even Mr. Rockwell - not always a fan of Voiglander products - says, in comparison to the current Summicron asph; "...99% of the time the images will be the same if you're worried about the picture and not the pixels..." a.noctilux Posted February 9, 2021 Share #37  Posted February 9, 2021 I use some non-Leica wide lenses so I don't want to comment here, too many differences in use (many so old). For different reasons, I used Olympus OM lens 2/21mm, when Leitz had only to offer S-A 4/21 or 3.4/21 long time (decades) ago. I use many more, one that is very good (if very big mounted on M ! ) is the Canon FD 20-35 L , like here for fun   1

Are any of these mentioned better than others on a digital M/SL? I'm using a Nikkor 20 f2.8, yes it is big with the adapter, I have switched between Nikkor and Leica lenses enough to not mind the focusing directions. I do find this lens better on film than digital.

I have used it on Leica Ms with film with no problems but haven't used it on a FF Leica digital. It has been fine on my CL and M8, haven't noticed and smearing or CA on my two digitals but I am not a pixel peeper. It fits the CL just barely but it fits, it is easy on the M8, it goes 10mm behind the mount.
