is youtube spam allowed here? I come here to escape the endless stream of youtubers self-promoting everywhere. I get it, most of the world isn't big on reading. morons don't read - they watch. but can we have at least one place on the internet where people can write and read?

whoever runs this forum: don't you see that by allowing youtube links you're sending your traffic elsewhere? this character did not post his review here, he posted it on youtube wrapped in their ads, he just came here to milk you for your traffic. the internet is dying by becoming just a different form of centralized TV, why not push back?

OK. This is not a review but a meaningless idea. Presentation Video. For some a camera porn.
But that doesn't mean you have to ban all YouTube videos. For example, repair instructions are welcome.

Excellent production quality in that video, nice one! I'd prefer to have heard you talking though, rather than just showing text.

If the text were also posted here then I'd be a lot happier, otherwise I would agree with the sentiment that click-bait feels wrong on this forum.

Some YouTube content is excellent and provides useful 'how to' guides which may be highly relevant to a thread, or for education such as RDF. So I think your proposal, which I hope will not happen, is to blunt.

The vast, and we are talking vast, percentage of content here is written or images, so your reasons for joining are valid and your expectations met. References to YouTube are rare, as are posts which verge on self promotion of a personal website.

Youtube is allowed here, spam is not.

Please leave it to the moderators to decide which content we rate as spam.

We have a lot of experience, based on sorting out such stuff every day.

We don't welcome ham-handed self-promotion, but this is not the case here.

Feel free to include Youtube videos here by simply posting the URL, the forum software automatically includes the video.
