Exactly. Good post-production makes things better.
With the colour Q2 you would have to balance an array
of colour temperatures, whereas the Q2M just captures light 😎

Obviously one would never wanna do that - but for the sheer sake of it here's that same image boosted by 5+ stops in post (HORRENDOUS !);
which effectively makes it ISO 100,000 ish (3,200 -> 6,400 -> 12,800 -> 25,600 -> 51,200 -> 102,400).

Also, more importantly: ISO 50,000 can and usually does look way better than this - unless youre shooting in pitch dark (like in that very case).

Despite the Q2M being amazing I still usually try to never go above ISO 6,400 / 12,800.
But when absolutely necessary results can look decent - eg this was shot at ISO 8,000 and pushed another 1-2 stops in post (effectively resulting in ISO 30,000 ish):

@Hemmer 12800 is my usual break point. After that I have to think differently.
Usually I deliberately under-expose to ensure highlights are not blown. After 12800
it then becomes necessary to 'more' optimally expose so as NOT to rely on post to
get dark detail because spider noise becomes increasingly difficult to avoid. Still
opt for 50000 very occasionally in special circumstances as I don't mind grain!

Thats exactly correct! It's a totally different mindset one has to adopt depending on the situation.

So yeah, I do the exact same (although personally I dont base it off of a given ISO "threshold" but rather based on a given scene's amount of light)

Experiment with 100,000ASA.

60yr old - MES light bulb fitting - from a festive season string of lights. Very temperamental. Childhood
memories trying to get these things to light up every year! Mains voltage, wired in series, probably a fire
safety nightmare. Over the decades after incremental light bulb failures the 'string' is getting some short!
This puts more volts across each light (wired in series) promoting even more likelihood of bulb failure,
so they are lit up very gently using a variable mains controller that I built decades ago and full volts only
applied for a short interval. 👀

This is an ad hoc--therefore, possibly meaningless--attempt to compare between the output of the Leica Q2M at full aperture, with the Leica M10M with 50mm Noctilux 0.95 (full aperture, here), and SL2 with Vario-Elamrit 24-70 at 24mm and full aperture (here).  I have used both LR and CO21 to edit both the Leica Q2M and the SL2 shots. This artwork, almost certainly for a Moslem praying, is part of the exhibitions of a new museum here in Washington, DC.  More about the museum, Planet Word, is here.  Please share your thoughts and kindly observe that resolution improves considerably when viewed on the light-box.   Regards.

@ibramr Impressive. Will need soft lighting. Hard to clean or dust! Must know your arabic, latin alphabet and diverse symbols to get any meaning unless it's largely random - like a driftwood horse art installation. My biggest issue is the artifice used to make the statue physically stable (the expanding 'skirt/base' on the table). A person praying would kneel and tuck their robe underneath whereas the statue appears to be going into a metallic meltdown from the lower region. Just sayin'... but a deeply impressive build.
