@trickness Did you zone focus for today's pictures? f5.6 - f8 ish?

Yes, absolutely! F8, (and I tried auto ISO for some of the shots, with mixed results.)

To me, the key to street photographs is zone focusing, otherwise you miss shots (and I still miss too many!)

Thank you for sharing! Lately Ive been "practicing" / trying to get adjusted to zone focusing with the Q; essentially trying to hack / factor in the weirdness of that focus scale [1] - personally I find it to be pretty painful (compared to M lenses) but definitely intending to keep at it.

[1] I tape measured reference points of 1 through 5 meters at home and then memoized the "divergences", ie learning what each actual distance translates to on the Q's focus scale.

I am honestly not very scientific about it. @F8 I try to keep minimum focus distance between five and 6 feet, which goes out to almost infinity. If I feel I’m really going to be in somebody’s grill, I might go down to 3 feet. I don’t really care if it’s not pin sharp, it’s more about the subject matter and the moment. I have been thinking about getting an M, I already have an SL2 and several pieces of M glass, but I wear glasses and I would have to use Contacts to see the frame lines on a 35. I find the Q2M leaves really nothing to be desired in terms of a fast street tool.

biggest change I have to make for street shooting is to dump the wrist strap, I find when I have to open doors or go into my bag or get money or a subway pass the wrist strap it’s inconvenient… Going to get a neck strap this week!

hehehehehe - I just switched from exclusively using a neck strap to now using a "wrist strap" (super light - the one that comes with the Ricoh GR III) about a week ago :D

I don’t know where you are located but they are definitely not the best tactile experience in the New York City subway system 😆
