A trivial post. I like to shoot the odd astro picture, and have had a swag of "real" astro cameras, CCD's etc. In the end simlicity (and frugality) took over and I settled on a cheap and not too nasty Fuji X-E1, it works well, was cheap, and gives nice pretty pictures.

But of course, this is a Leica forum that I frequent, and given one Fuji, and about 7 (and counting) Leicas, I just had to have another tinker.

The T would be better than it is if I could control it via the app, no question, and you'll have all heard my grizzling about the app being IOS only, so I won't bang on any further. Additionally, for any decent astro fun, it needs a B setting, but currently it goes to 30 seconds and that's it.

So, really pushing it uphill with a matchstick, but why not.

The day was cloudy, but it has just gone quiet, and the sky is stunning, good to be alive, good to be out, looking up. I hadn't figured on the thin slither of the waxing crescent moon, but the earthshine looked so nice, I took a snap.

Given the limitations of the gear I thought I'd try M42 the Great Orion Nebula as well. It's reasonably bright, well placed (rising here right now) and I figured the T might give a decent shot. Not perfect, but anyway.

Fuji Fish Market in Taiwan. It is a fisherman port and you can buy direct off the fisherman. You can also get them to cook the fish and such at the restaurants that is situated there.

Taken with the 55-135. I'm actually really impressed by the quality of the lens.

Those are 3 deer at the top of the hill, out of a herd of about twenty that roam around our area, one of the larger females is aggressive and has taken a run at me several times, probably the dogs that spooked her, I have my bearspray ready though.

This shot has a lot to show. Humor in the position of the the deer and the dogs, a beautiful sun and great rendering of the snow and sky.
