John,

Appreciated.

Elpro is the Leitz/Leica close-up lens system. (See what I did there, I didn't infuriate Dunk, he has an aversion to people calling them "filters", sorry Dunk, had to slip that in).

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/ELPRO

I have the Elpro V1a, and V1b, mainly on his (Dunk's) suggestion.

Snag is they are a weird filter size, 44mm, although they screw straight onto my 50mm Summicron R lens.

For use with my X-Vario, and the T, I adapted a couple of M44 rings, gluing them to 43mm and 52mm filter rings, for the Vario and the T respectively.

A slight amount of effort for a great result.

My mantis is still here, he was sunning himself today on the recently cut hedges, so very fortunate he was.

LOL it looks that way Louis, sure does.

In truth, I cut that hedge 18 hours prior, so he is a lucky insect indeed.

Used the tripod this time.

Rick's close ups has me salivating on a Micro Nikkor, and I have my eye on one, we'll see.

Och, you'll be sick of me posting soon.

A lazy Sunday afternoon walk today, grand-daughters at full speed ahead.

T and 18-56 was the perfect accompaniment.

No, we will never be bored of your wonderful photos, Gary.

Please keep them coming...

I had given my Nikkor 55mm f/3.5 Micro away to a friend.  What was I thinking then :-)?

Thanks,

Dennis

Get it back Dennis.

I found one last night locally, and once I get a couple of adapters sorted will be eager to try it out.

OK, back in the fold, third time lucky I hope. Now all I need is a Visoflex and M-T adapter and I'm complete.

First shots were random grand-children ones, but this mantis was about so I slipped an Elpro on the 18-56 and shot a couple. Needed a tripod and decent time and effort, but got this anyway.

Gary

I've been away from the forum for a while but it's wonderful to see your photography here and in the following posts.  Thank you very much indeed!
