Birds of a feather?

90mm AA

Priceless shot, Rob!

I can't imagine any Bittern or Little Heron on this side of the world behaving like this.  The ones I encounter here are solitary, antisocial, and intense--as the one below, shot yesterday with my TL2:

Rob... Is it so that the perfect focus shows itself on the lower left corner of the computer frame (7 o'clock)?

Will setting a narrower aperture broaden the focus zone?

What other ways are there to broaden the focus zone?

John,

I was just messing around at my desk after your note to me. I think it was that narrow, but if you look closely you will see that it runs horizontally for the length of the photo. There are no visible blemishes on my keyboard.

To widen the zone in focus simply stop down the lens aperture. I'm sure mine was at the f2.8 setting but by Leica design Leica will default the aperture to f4  for a "better picture" when one gets as close as possible to the subject.

See the other shot below which was taken at the same time. I was as close as one could get - not more than 6 inches from the key on the keyboard, the aperture defaulted to f4.
