Indeed, Rick,, I agree with you; a little more pixels and an in-body EVF would 't hurt at all and would improve this great little camera.

Your flower shot is absolutely gorgeous, I love it. But I think it also performs quite decently in low light. As soon as get home, I will post shots that I took recently with ISO 3200, and I was pleasantly surprised by the result.

BTW, what lens did you use for your previous post and this one; the IQ is amazing! Is it 55-135 ?

Jesse Owens, African American Museum, Washington DC

James, “Jesse”, Owens was an American track and field athlete with 4 gold medals in 1936 Olympics in berlin, Germany.

Adolf Hitler was furious to see an African decent athlete winning over his Nazi “Aryan” athletes that he considered as the “Superior Race”!

This statue of Jesse Owens is displayed in the new African American Museum (that just opened in Washington DC) to celebrate the achievements of this athlete.

Yes your Jesse Owens shots demonstrate the low light ability of the Leica T - very nice.  Can you tell us what 'De-Noise' program, if any,

you used?

Meanwhile, my previous Squirrel and Chickadee shots were with the 55-135, while the bread basket and flowers were with the 18-56.  The T system is really turning out to be a winner for me... I have just begun to use it and realize its potential.  As with the X Vario, I can not figure out why it was such a failure in the market place???  I am excited about learning how to effectively use  the 11-23 which is also a fantastic lens.

I was very surprised for not having to use any anti-noise filter for these two shots. They looked quite decent to me as they are; and, I didn't want to lose any "texture", either!... It happens to me to use anti-noise filter from time to time, when I really have to. For that, I have an old version of "Noiseware Professional"  in my old Photoshop that does the job quite well.

As for the lenses you mentioned, I was guessing 55-135 that I have been very impressed by from the samples I have seen so far! For your bread shot, I find 18-56 doing a really great job; I like the colors and the texture very much. XV always had very good reviews from real users  who have been praising this camera everywhere. But some so-called professional critics and gear specialists loved to put it down, as they also did even worse with T. I guess some folks who never used any of these cameras look on papers and compare them with all-in-one Japanese cameras to reach the conclusion how disappointed (!!!) they are with XV or T Leica cameras!!! ... I hesitated months before getting my T; but I am enjoying it greatly!

Considering all the bad press  that the T received, your  3200 ISO shots are pretty amazing.  I will have to try it out in some low light situations to see if I can do as well as you did.

As far as which is a "better" camera - XV vs T:

The XV and T share the same sensor .. (with possibly a few different  tweaks here and there) .. the zoom lens on the XV is really quite extraordinary but 18-56 seems to be right up there with it.  The resulting images are outstanding in either case.  The most obvious advantage that the T has, is interchangeable lenses.  In my brief experience with both cameras I have to call it a draw.  Each has a slightly different quality, but both are outstanding image makers.  Here is a recent T shot with the 18-56 that I think demonstrates the Leica IQ that I desire.

I know there's been a lot of hesitation around here because of an impending T2, but I picked up a used T yesterday and am pretty excited to get out there and use it.  I figure if I'm always waiting for the newest technology to come out, I'd be sitting around waiting forever.

Louis... Are your Jesse Owens shots handheld? Do you generally / always handhold?

I really want to visit the African American Museum.

John,

Those shots are handheld like most of my photos. The truth is that I am way too lazy to carry a tripod with me. The only time I am using a tripod is for micro photography, and also a sunrise, etc... Besides, this museum was so crowded that I could not use a tripod; instead, I had to wait the right moment to take a picture without people passing in front of me! ;)

As for the museum itself; this is a very beautiful modern building, but I think it is built in a wrong place; it just doesn't look right to my eyes with other building surrounding! Also, I should admit, I was a little disappointed of "inside"! I believe there is so much , artistically, historically and socially that could be exposed to represent African Americans during their painful, but also achievement life in the American Continent, but instead I saw many insignificant things, mostly only photography!...

I put the shot of the building in another forum that you can see here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/265300-african-american-museum-in-dc/

Couple of nice shots in Liverpool this weekend.

The first was at the Digital Splash event in Liverpool, unfortunately the speaker giving the demo on the flash systems he promoted didn't support Leica, not to worry, whilst everyone was shooting away with flash I managed a rather nice shot with natural light of Heather, converted to B&W 1/250 sec;   f/5.6;   ISO 100 Vario-Elmar T 1:3.5-5.6 / 18-56 ASPH.

The second shot was taken out on a walk in Albert Docks, loved the colours in this and the natural highlights, and graininess 1/200 sec;   f/14;   ISO 3200 Vario-Elmar T 1:3.5-5.6 / 18-56 ASPH.
