Ok.

quick poll..

Assuming cost is not a factor...

...what would your prefer. The 75 1.25 noctilux or the 90 1.5 summilux?

I have looked at reviews and videos of both.  Both are scrumptious in rendering, and the “Pop” of the subject from the 75 is stunning

Has anyone purchased one or the other after considering both ?

I’ve always favored the 90 perspective view, but looking at the 75 has me rethinking ?

My choice would be the 75mm Noctlux.

Both lenses have otherworldly renderings when shot wide open, but I can't stop looking at the images that the 75 Noctilux produces.

The weight of both lenses is close - 2.3 lb. for the 75mm vs. 2.22 lb. for the 90mm.  I think the 75 Noctilux would be a bit easier to work with hand held; I have not scrutinized the data sheets for each lens but it seem to me that at maximum aperture, the 75mm would be a bit easier to nail focus when using the rangefinder mechanism.   Both lenses use 67mm filters, so lens diameter is the same.

If cost is not an issue, then the choice seems to me to come down to this:  Which fingerprint do you like the best?  The 75mm Noctilux?  Or the 90mm Summilux?

Count me in for the 75, it’s faster and slightly less magnification, handheld it will be advantageous for both these factors. Tamarkin had one used at $9500 a few months back. Technically and artistically it is very compelling, physically it is hard on my hands.

COMPLETELY in theory (i'll never buy one - and have a Summarex... 😎) ... I'd choose the 75 just because 1,25 is more impressive... 😆

I have both the 75mm Noct and the Summarex. I really like the Noct, but the Summarex will have to be pried from my dead hands.

Strictly speaking, the 75 is more versatile because not a portrait lens. Have used it as a walk-around lens on the M10.

SL2, 75mm Noct, wide open.

I will say, the 75 Noct is much better on the SL2 than on my M10-P, at least wide open and close. I think the 75 Noct is really pushing the envelope of that the RF can handle, Ive experienced situations where turning the focus ring just an infinitesimal amount, so little that the RF patch shows no change, still results in a clear difference in the image.

Thank you MDG 1371.  Curious if you have used the Visoflex on your M10 given your comment regarding the SL2 EVF vs  RF and the focus challenges?

I do, and it is functional and reliable with the Noct— But I do think the higher resolution of the SL2 yields better results in fine tuning focus.
