Hopefully those primes seem small and fast enough for the CL.
24mm f/1.8 =  36mm f/2.7 (eq. DoF)
35mm f/1.8 =  53mm f/2.7
50mm f/1.8 =  75mm f/2.7
85mm f/1.8 = 128mm f/2.7

I'm more interested in the 70-300 zoom lens.
There's no other option for tele lenses with L-mount in this zoom range.
Below the huge Sigma 100-400 and the much huger, heavier and crazy more expensive 90-280m Leica ...

But where is the smaller lenses ??

LOL!

Don't tell me you did not notice the movement towards larger lens and larger camera. It is probably due to the movement to massive MP or GP!

We all should be thankful for the size and weight of current TL lenses. It might grow if the CL3 installs a 100MP sensor.

We should all pray for keeping away from that day.

The other factor pushing the lens size is pursuit of shallow DOF Avenue thoughthe sensor improvement should not need larger aperture for exposure.

So, make your choice: larger aperture and higher resolution, or smaller lighter lens and camera. If the major preference is the former, then the trend will favor FF and kill APS-C.

Now, be careful for what new lens you want for CL!

That’s exactly the contrary. We are seeing now the trend for smaller and smaller full frame mirrorless lenses and bodies.
Huge bodies like S1 series were a failure.
Sigma DG DN lenses are way smaller.
New Lumix S f/1.8 lenses are focusing in small size too.
Canon RF STM lenses are Small.
Tamron for mirrorless are small.
Sony FE has always been small.
Nikon Z are small too.

Only Leica did not attend the meeting about customers wanting t small lenses and bodies.

But Leica did attend the meeting, about not releasing any APS-C lenses

Just to sum up. Full frame mirrorless will get tons of small lenses.

But APS-C will got none. Go figure. I guess that we’ll have to do like Canon, Nikon and Sony users are doing for decades : using full frame lenses with APS-C bodies.

It depends on the quality you want.

Sure, you can always get smaller stuffs by compromising something.

Sony has smaller cameras and lenses, so as Canon, Nikon,.... Why stay with Leica?!

Now Sony is really coming after APS-C. A7C is around the same size as A6x0 series.
Just slightly taller and thicker.
Only 100g heavier than CL.
Full frame 24MP sensor + IBIS.
Great battery life

Hopefully for CL it is ugly

It looks like Jackson Pollock designed the controls...

It's a miracle to me why other producers not just copy Leica's user interface or at least learn from it.

Apart from that, I welcome Sony's move. I hope they are replacing their APS-C cameras with this new style of a full frame camera. That would put some pressure on Leica to do something similar and introduce a full frame CL.

Until then, I remain a happy user of the current CL.

In one hand, there are more and more compact full frame lenses and now compact full frame body.
On the other hand, of APS-C totally lack of APS-C lenses. No point being smaller if you have no choice.  And have to rely on bigger full frame lenses. Defeating the point of having a smaller body.

We can always mount M lenses to get the most compact setup in full frame compact body.

Leica totally missed the boat by refusing to release an interchangeable version of Q.

Don't count me in please. M240 + 75/1.4 vs digital CL + 50/1.4. Guess which ones i bring if i need compactness.

I have a faint feeling that you said so before.

The writing is on the wall.

I am afraid that manufacturers have made up their mind. No need to keep APS-C line. If we can make small Full frame body and lenses. No need to support two types of lenses.

It is happening now. Silence around APS-C is deafening.

Even Nikon crippled its Z50 so much, that you are better of buying Z5 instead.

I am pretty sure, that Canon will left EF-M for dead. One last body and voilà. And RF will never be available in APS-C

That’s why I like Sigma with their mount conversion program. If I have to jump ship. I will not hesitate to do it.

You will notice that I still chose 56mm DC DN an APS-C lens over 85mm DG DN a full frame lens for my CL. Small size and low price, tip the balance back to APS-C. But for how long ? Announced Lumix S 85mm f/1.8 looks quite small.

There are enough places to read all about Sony's new wonder cam other than here, LOL...and after reading all about it at DPReview, including the relatively tiny finder, if I were a Sony user I'd either still be buying either a larger full-frame body or the A6600 aps-c model if I really wanted smaller.

But I think instead I'll stick with the CL and go visit a Sony forum if I ever want to read more....

It will be interesting to see what, if any response there is to the Sony Alpha 7C.  Leica has previously taken their own road and if a new CL2 is already in development it may be too late to change anything anyway.  The CL, in my opinion, is a  viable compact autofocus alternative to the manual focus M and larger autofocus SL2.    What a CL2 might be is addressed elsewhere in the forum, or, at least what readers might wish for.  I hope that Leica continues the CL development with camera refinements and some new compact prime lenses, and doesn't just let other lens makers take up the slack.

Yes, the Sony is cheaper, in my experience is that is an accurate assessment.
