thatkatmat Posted August 30, 2020 Share #1  Posted August 30, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been shooting with this awesome little 90mm Summarit lens for about a week now. It's really blowing me a way, the detail and the overall contrast with perfect color rendition for the $ (only $800) is amazing. I have, and have had, some Leica glass that I love 50mm .95 Noctilux, 50 Summilux, 24-90, I've also had some, that I've spent 4-5-6K for that I haven't loved, the newest 35 lux, a 21 lux that didn't do much for me. I like the high contrast 3D look with perfect color if not muted a bit, anyways... I also have some other m-mount glass that I love that costs about 1/4 of what Leica equivalent costs but to me, has much more character, My favorite overall lens for the M-mount or the L-mount the is the AMAZING Zeiss 35 1.4 ZM, with it's soft but sharp glow in the middle of the frame wide open that makes people shots pop, stop it down it's sharp across the frame and the colors can make it look special too.... , The CV 21/1.4 with it's brilliant sunstars.... The CV 40 1.2 with it's sunstars AND soft glow to name a few of my favorites. BUT.... I know I'm missing out on some Leica gems, some older character lenses that maybe, like my 90mm Summarit is AMAZING, but doesn't really get the credit because it was part of a less expensive line or whatever. Do you have one of those? I don't care what focal length, I'm looking for Leica glass suggestionsthat are like..... the 2nd gen 50 cron or whatever, but now they're 1500 and you like it better than the new 50 cron @ $7K.  Here's a couple with the SL2 and the 90mm Summarit Welcome, dear visitor! lct Posted August 30, 2020 Share #3  Posted August 30, 2020 You may wish to  try other f/2.5 Summarits: 35/2.5, 50/2.5, 75/2.5. Very good lenses really. 1
luigi bertolotti Posted August 30, 2020 Share #4  Posted August 30, 2020 .. and what about a classic ELMAR 50 3,5 ? It is by defintion a "cheap" item (hundreds permanently in the market) and a really cosmetically fine one won't cost anyway too much... ... and there is another Leitz classic which is "no prestige" : the Summaron 35 3,5 : nothing to do with your Zeiss 1,4... a lens of the 50's... the first new design of Leitz after WWII
TomB_tx Posted August 30, 2020 Share #5 Â Posted August 30, 2020 I have the 35, 50, & 90 Summarit 2.5 - and use them more than my other lenses. Very nice images, and I love the handling (especially the 35 & 50).
