The lens is completely yours, still under warranty, with uv. At a price of $ 5k. I have other lenses and I shoot with m10m. 35cron. 50 or. 75apo. oka Posted August 16, 2020 Share #2 Posted August 16, 2020 28lux is one of the latest / finest lux. If you like modern look and need support for R (high resolution) it’s a lens to have. Only downside is that if you shoot with multiple lenses and want to retain similar look on the different focal lengths you need to be careful with which lenses you pair with it (APO50, Noct75 and Lux90 would be great “pairs”). For me as I use Noct50 as the primary lens, look of lux28 was too different and after M10-R when I have more cropping space I have moved to lux21/noct50 combo. 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Personally I think lux28 size is the max for the M (very balanced). Also lux21 doesn’t have tab on the focusing ring if you have preferences (with tab personally I can focus more accurately). Why not split difference and get a 24mm. If you are happy with max aperture there is no sharper 24mm than humble Elmar-M. But if you must have prestige of a 'lux, go for it. I must actually say that after working the DNG in Lightroom the differences will disappear almost completely. Further the 1.4 lens is bulky and much too heavy. I would consider a lens that is better suited the M camera. Think if you really need 1.4? Do you shoot wide open? I own Summiluxes 50mm and 35mm but would go for Summicrons today. Recently I added the 50mm Summarit. The heavy 50mm Summilux is not in use since then. I must add that I mainly do landscape and towns (travel) where wide open is nit essential. And I made many night pictures with the 50mm f/2.5 and I love that small and light lens. As 21mm I have the Super-Elmar. Its simply great. I must add that I very often have the 28mm Cron as standard lens on my M10. 21mm agains 28 is after all a good difference. 24mm might be too near. There is clear difference between Summilux 21, 24, 28 and 35. Perspective and quality vise. I would rate 35 and 24 worst from the quality of rendering. 24 is not wide enough but wide enough to have visible distortion which needs to taken care with the composition. It’s also technically inferior when compared to 21 and 28. Why Leica discontinued the 24 lux is quite obvious. With 28 (like most phones) you can shoot and compose without thinking about distortions. Finally with 21 at f/1.4 you get lot of environment WITH nice bokeh and separation between subject and background. Yes it’s difficult first but with experience you learn to compose with 28mm framelines. 35 I would rate as the worst Lux. It barely handles high resolution sensors and the bokeh is busy and poor compared to other lux. You can not compare the perspective with 28 as it has clearly different “feel” on it. 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

It needs some experience but it works very well: Peeping a bit to the left and tothe right. . . It sits in a sweet spot of beautiful rendering (reminds me of vintage lenses but with modern sharpness and lack of distortion), bokeh, focal length utility, and frame lines that make it one of my favorite lenses. It's a bit large but still manageable unless you are traveling ultra light (in which case the 28/2 or 28/2.8 are both outstanding as well, but without as much dramatic potential). 2 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Maybe i can buy 28 and 21 ( both 10k ) I managed to find a limited edition 28/2 Summicron in silver chrome and I am very happy that I decided to acquire it because I might never see another one and it's a superb lens. 'Your' 28/1.4 Summilux in silver chrome might be the same - if you don't buy it now you might never find another and be left kicking yourself and wondering what it would have been like. If you buy the 28/1.4 Summilux in silver chrome now you can try it and if you don't gel with it then you can always sell it later for very little loss and possibly a profit if it stays in good condition.
