Advertisement Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Hi fotografr, Take a look here Light Reading. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted August 12, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 12, 2006 Brent - Was the AD happy with it? He should have been. It's well exposed and composed, the angle adds interest, and it tells a story.
dan_drabek Posted August 12, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 12, 2006 Excellent shot Brent. Is that an illustration of a flat Earth on the book cover? DD
mgcd Posted August 12, 2006 Share #4 Posted August 12, 2006 Brent - I really like this. Your framing makes this subject more dynamic than it would have been. Very nicely done. I would indeed be curious about about his alternative theory... Cheers,
fotografr Posted August 12, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted August 12, 2006 Stuart--Thank you. The AD seemed to be happy with the photo. He's been trying to get me to play with angles more so I gave him what he wanted here. DD--Thanks much. The illustration is of some microbial type organisms crawling out of a primordial pond. Conrad--I'm sure he'd be happy to sell you a copy. I'm not sure his theory has had much acceptance in the scientific world. He first published the book about 10 years ago but just released a revised edition.

jmr Posted August 12, 2006 Share #8 Posted August 12, 2006 Brent, this one has a nice, and very appropriate, far-away look to it.

palmskov Posted August 13, 2006 Share #11 Posted August 13, 2006 Like it as well. The lines, light and angle are very nice. Nice done...
martinop Posted August 13, 2006 Share #12 Posted August 13, 2006 Find this shot very interesting, enjoyable and well executed..The "trianglular white background portion" + the subject's eyes + the position / placement of the book + the shot angle and the darker outer background make this excellent "light reading". twom4 Posted August 13, 2006 Share #13 Posted August 13, 2006 It must be my current "stage of mind". I "see" the picture differently to all above.
fotografr Posted August 13, 2006 Author Share #14 Posted August 13, 2006 Thanks much for the comments. Conrad--You lost me. What is the "Hands" campaign. Chris--What is it you don't like about the photo?
mgcd Posted August 13, 2006 Share #15 Posted August 13, 2006 Thanks much for the comments. Conrad--You lost me. What is the "Hands" campaign. The Leica "Hands" campaign is/was an advertising/branding campaign featuring the hands of people like Salgado, Ralph Gibson etc. with their Leica camera. Your avatar is reminiscent of that campaign... Cheers,
fotografr Posted August 13, 2006 Author Share #16 Posted August 13, 2006 Conrad--Sure, I do recall seeing those ads. I don't think there's much danger of me being confused with any of those folks. I can see it now: "The hands of Brent Nicastro." And the response, "Huh?" "Who?" Cheers,

stunsworth Posted August 13, 2006 Share #19 Posted August 13, 2006 Hi Brent, I like this shot a lot, but there seems to be some kind of Jpeg noise in the light board behind the subject. Is this a property of the downsizing for the web?
leicamann Posted August 13, 2006 Share #20 Posted August 13, 2006 Ditto well done..I am sure he is pleased? Thanks for sharing your photography Brent!! Steve..this seems to be very much an issue will many of us on this software and server..I am not sure what happens, but it definitely inferior to the "Old Forum" jpeg handling capacity. Thats something I think we all need to ask Andreas now. If we knew how the "server technology" reads the images or if they become embedded with code that adds to the noise and visual distortion? I think its time we get some answers. Regards , Lei Ka Mann:)
