Good to know that this option is available for if/when I move to the L mount system. It will be a toss-up between Sigma's Art primes or Leica's APO Summicrons, and both lines have 28, 35 and 50, which makes for an interesting choice. Given that the money for a single APO Summicron prime could alternatively buy me 28, 35 and 50 Sigma Arts, I'll have to decide if that extra jump is worth it. I think most of us would prefer to get all the APO primes, but these are times for economic caution.

Given the fact the 24mm lenses in the M mount have been discontinued, perhaps they were able to focus on both the 21 and 28 mm and we shall see both of them launched at the same time. I'm thinking the 24 mm APO L lens may never materialize.

I've been telling myself the I would skip the 28 SL-S and wait for the 24  because I have the 28 M-Summilux.   But looking at how far Leica has come in the capabilities of the SL-Summicrons compared with the M Summilux at 35 mm I'm not so sure.  (See the interview with Peter Karbe  about a week ago in this forum  I screen shot the critical comparison and posted it.)  The thought that they may never get around to the 24 is disturbing.  These are a unique product, produced at low enough cost and priced to sell like hotcakes, so I hope not.

In addition to my SL 35 (& SL 90) this lens (as well as the 21mm in 2021) would be a great completion (I will skip the SL 24mm)! When (hopefully!) traveling through Israel in October SL 28&90 would be the ideal combo - minimalist as well as, due to the SL2’s cropping capabilities, versatile...

I also have the 35 and 90, but see the 24 as the ideal addition to those two (I've always found 28 too close to 35), so I really hope it's still coming.

Indeed it is. But as there have been no recent updates from Leica regarding the roadmap, and they recently discontinued the 24 mm for the M, once must wonder if they will even bother producing one for the SL system.

I hope I am wrong, and that every focal length promised is produced. In fact, I would love to see a 135/2 APO L lens to go with my 75 APO L, in addition to a 100/120 mm macro lens capable of 1:1 without accessories. I think those would be two fantastic additions to the lens line-up.

I think the 24 Elmar it reaching end of life (while the 24 Summilux and SEM continue) means nothing. It’s a lens I like to use on an m but not sharp enough for the sl2.  Also I believe it’s an early molded aspheric with some elements that couldn’t reach modern tolerances.  But it sometimes gives striking results and works well in situations too dense for a 35 or 28.   So I’m rooting for a 24 sl-sc in2021.
