I got an EVF for.my M10P recently but found the focusing point (cross point) is not always in the centre. I have adjusted back to centre but sometimes it returns to the left lower corner automatically no matter changed to another lenses or not. Does anyone know how to set the default focusing point back to centre. Thanks.

Is there a one step quick way to move it back center? Is that accomplished by turning it off and back on?

I have the M10 not the M10-P but since the M10-P has a touchscreen I imagine just touching the centre of the screen?

Pete.

How do you Expect to vary the focus point when the lens is manual only and there is only a visual relationship between what you see in the viewfinder and the image delivered to the sensor.  The    Cross point can be moved across the LCD frame but has no effect on the lens.

Using an EVF on the M10-P makes the attached lens autofocus*.

*I might have made that up.   I think it's the OP's terminology and he meant cross-point (where the exposure reading is taken when set to spot metering).

How?

does the lens magically acquire a motor to allow it to alter its focal Length

I do agree that the OP is actually referring to selecting a spot metering point.

No, I was being frivolous, of course and no offence was intended, Gordon.

Off-topic a little perhaps but the lens doesn't necessarily need to have a motor for autofocus as in the Contax G2 where the film plane is moved back and forth as far as I recall.

In the menu settings there is a choice for EVF/Display Control, in the submenu is LV Screen Target.  When set to auto as you put the camera to your eye the rear display live view will change to the evf but the focus point can be changed into the corner by touching with fingers or noses on the rear screen prior to change.   To prevent this, set the submenu to EVF, this alleviates any touches to the rear display.  With this setting, the rear display will not show live view unless the EVF is removed.    As mentioned, resetting to center is only accomplished with on/off of the main power switch.

Old thread I know but I REALLY hope this is fixed in a future firmware update. It drives me crazy that I can’t disable touch when using the EVF.

I turn out using all zoom out for the focus point eventually.  It enables me to focus much more faster if you are not wide opening a f1.4 or larger lenses.

Rather unlikely. They refuse to fix it on other cameras showing the problem - only worse as those are autofocus- despite many complaints by users over the years. 😡
