theweijian Posted June 2, 2020 Share #1  Posted June 2, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was listening to an interview between Dr Andreas Kaufmann and Ralph Gibson, and I was intrigued by this statement by Ralph Gibson: Quote "But now, I discovered with the digital sensor, that I like a longer focal length. I think the 75 is normal. I think 75 is normal. There's a difference in language, and I'm working very hard to understand the difference between digital and film - how the sensor as opposed to how the emulsion reacts and there's a difference. You know, it's a different language." I am curious if any of you have found that to be the case - that 75mm is "normal" for digital photography. SocialKonstruct Posted June 2, 2020 Share #2 Â Posted June 2, 2020 Eh, I would be a tad worried if 75mm were the normal view but maybe 6 feet away during the COVID era perhaps?

oldwino Posted June 2, 2020 Share #5  Posted June 2, 2020 it's what works for him. How he sees. Me, I am partial to 60mm. It's my new normal.
lct Posted June 2, 2020 Share #6  Posted June 2, 2020 I've been speaking the digital "language" for 18 years and i don't see the least difference between film and digital from this viewpoint. 50mm has always been the "normal" focal length for me on FF, 35mm on APS-C and 75mm on nothing. Even 40mm looks a bit too wide on FF and slightly too long on APS-C to me. Now if Leica donates me a 75/1.25 i might change my mind . 1
