I've been looking around the Internet for a while now, and kind of ended up with the conclusion that this doesn't exist, but as a last resort I will ask here. Does anyone know of any solution to have a timed shutter release for the Leica MP? Like a self timer of some sorts? I saw some older Leica ones around the internet but they are really hard to find and I'm not ever sure if they work with the MP...

I use old LTM Canon Self Timer on my M without S.T. for years, not smart but it does the job,

adjustment of length ( provided feature on my Canon Self Timer 8 😎 ) must be made for each M, though

like this one https://www.ebay.fr/itm/312857724444

more infos here : https://flynngraphics.ca/self-timers/

There's a lot of those on eBay, but I also read posts of people trying them and not working. Have you tried this model with the analog Leica MP?

Hmm... do you know one which doesn't need adjustment and just works? Do you reckon this one will do https://www.ebay.de/itm/Box-in-Mint-Vintage-Canon-Self-Timer-8-with-instructions-From-Japan/164133853327?hash=item263723d88f:g:0ccAAOSwDKhedivz ? Probably they won't ship to EU during these times...

Rowi looks almost the same as Canon #6 and #8 Self-timer.

I see the two that they are adjustable, good thing.

Adjustment is for different shutter travel with plunger length adjusted for the camera in use.

Only once for the camera in use, as the second thumbscrew is for blocking the setting of length of the plunger which trigger the shutter, after the delay.

No, it was actually the model that a.noctilux posted that I was thinking of. It was just a link to set you off searching for something more suitable - just a heads up that such things exist.

I bought them both. The WALZ works great! The ROWI doesn't work because it only comes out a little bit, but might work with some adjustment which I don't know how to do... The WALZ goes way in, it doesn't even have room to go all the way out! It works! Really happy! Here's a demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs87M8v-mPY

Look at the self-timer, there are two thumb screws.

Take one in each thumb to unscrew them,

the bottom one unscrews to release longer/shorter rod,

then to keep the rod size, to be tried on the camera, the locking bottom screw-in tight.

I made a video of how it works:

Do you think that the pressure inside the shutter when resisting can damage it? I tried with my finger to stop the self timer's "pole" (?) from coming out and it does take some force. But I guess there's probably strong men out there pressing that shutter hard so it's probably made to resist :)

Is this walz safe to use ?

...this suddenly made me realise I had an APDOO/OZTNO combo stashed away somewhere. Never was one for selfies, though.😬
