adan Posted March 27, 2020 Share #6 Posted March 27, 2020 Assuming they are fairly straight versions (no fake grain/film-type simulations): Top is film, bottom is digital
250swb Posted March 27, 2020 Share #7 Posted March 27, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) On the basis of there being no blown highlights in the top image I'll say the top is film and the bottom is the M9.
david strachan Posted March 27, 2020 Share #8 Posted March 27, 2020 Reds are pretty blown on bottom picture so i'll say that is digital. Top is film.
Volbeat Posted March 27, 2020 Share #9 Posted March 27, 2020 Top is Film. BTW, back to the title question, Film is Analog 1

garryleica Posted March 27, 2020 Share #11 Posted March 27, 2020 All I can say is I'd be disappointed if the bottom one was taken with an expensive M9.

That, along with the red-ish tint, is exactly my conclusion. Edited March 27, 2020 by ianman

pgk Posted March 27, 2020 Share #14 Posted March 27, 2020 Impossible to say. The top one looks like it has highlight inconsistencies that I would associated with digital capture, but also seems to have a weird 'noise' almost looking like reticulation which is a phenomenon associated with film. Without knowing the way that the film file has been digitised and whether any post processing has been carried out, and to do what, I don't think that it is possible to be definitive from web displayed jpeg files. Exposure is inconsistent too.

You're only saying that because you saw that the bottom one was posted in the M9 section! 😂 (but without the extra red) Edited March 27, 2020 by ianman

Not that I saw that it was posted in the M9 section (I didn't - I don't think I'd ever visited there before just now, following your post) but because I like to eat hats. Is that so strange? No, seriously, the skin gives it away. Game set and match right there. It's an old comparison now, it's a different digital camera, and I'm sure we've all see it, but this still holds true: http://www.summilux.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=51356
