jaeger Posted February 19, 2020 Share #2 Posted February 19, 2020 (edited) looks good. Seems as small as the 40mm f/1.2 Edited February 19, 2020 by jaeger
TheBestSLIsALeicaflex Posted February 19, 2020 Share #3 Posted February 19, 2020 voigtlander has turned out an impressive line up of f/1.2 lenses.
mike3996 Posted February 19, 2020 Share #4 Posted February 19, 2020 Aw man. Cosina is on fire! The 35 Nokton Classic f/1.4 II of last summer already showed that they mean business. 35 f/2 Classic too. And this just in the 35mm lenses alone!
james.liam Posted February 19, 2020 Share #5 Posted February 19, 2020 (edited) Copycat Artisans of China put an extra fire under their asses. But then I’d pick a Voigtlander over minor makers any day. If this creation is in any way close to the 1,4/35, I’m in. jaeger Posted February 19, 2020 Share #6 Posted February 19, 2020 (edited) If everything is good, 6 bit coded would be wonderful. If anyone who can write Japaneses please send them my wish. 😄 Oh, and get ride of the silver-chrome rim too please! Herr Barnack Posted February 19, 2020 Share #7 Posted February 19, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) ¥135,000 = $1214 USDs. A price increase of about 20% compared to the 35/1.2 Nokton II but still well within reason. I'm in. 🙂 Any word on when they will be available? I'm not finding anything... It would never give the Voigtlander name in EXIF data, and how would you know what lens characteristics would you want adjusted through a Leica clone?
microview Posted February 19, 2020 Share #9 Posted February 19, 2020 (edited) 'Shipping in March' says Leica Rumors – wonder if this will be in all territories, incl. UK! And will it be preferable to the bulky Zeiss Distagon 1.4? Edited February 19, 2020 by microview

Or, leave it unpainted, let buyers to decide which code to put. The problem without the 6bit code is no control on minimal shutter speed. I have the auto lens profile set the shutter speed to 1/focal len. That's my major reason to have 6 bit code, I don't care EXIF.

If it is your only uncoded lens, you know if you set it manually it will always use that setting when the camera dosn't find a code, until you change the manual code. You do not have to set the code manually every time. Zeiss and Voigtlander both have a continuous groove that can be used for coding that is recessed enough that the markings will not rub off. There's a deepening (ring) in the bajonet where you can paint your code.

Davidthefat Posted February 20, 2020 Share #16 Posted February 20, 2020 I wonder how it compares to the Zeiss 35mm f1.2 lens. I currently have the Voigtlander 35mm f1.2 II lens, and I'm considering upgrading to the zeiss.

padam Posted February 20, 2020 Author Share #20 Posted February 20, 2020 (edited) 11 minutes ago, Davidthefat said: Lol I meant the 1.4 The ZM is super-sharp at any aperture and distance, whether that is close-range or infinity, has 0 focus shift, high flare-resistance, and it is lighter than the 35/1.2 II. It is so sharp that it can be unflattering to people, you can look for samples on this forum as well. If you are already happy with the VM 35/1.2 II then upgrading to this VM 35/1.2 III one means you have a lens that is even smaller, lighter (more balanced), cheaper and more forgiving at wide apertures. I think we will see official samples within a few days since it will be available in the domestic market next month.
