Manfred,

It is also my experience that there may be excessive praise of work in the photo forums but I consider it a form of encouragement. It is also my experience that if you want honest feedback, you can request it, and you will get it. A lack of comments is also a form of feedback, in a situation like that I would encourage you to request honest feedback.

Wilfredo,

so you get praise by default unless you ask for "honest feedback"? Is that it? If it were, wouldn't that rather imply that all that unanimous praise in the photo forums is fairly dishonest? And what kind of encouragement would that be?

No, I don't think it's dishonest. Most of us who are regular have gotten to know each other and our different shooting styles. This is a small community when compared to something like the Fred Miranda forum where anyone can pop in and trash a photo. The ethos is different here and my observation is that if a photo does not receive feedback, it is usually something that didn't have any appeal and rather than give negative feedback, there is silence. I've had that experience myself. So if you really want feedback on your work, just ask for it, there is nothing to lose.

BTW, I took a look at some of your pictures and I think you can improve them with some moderate PP. They seem a tad gray to me, but that may be exactly what you like. I do like your compositions, however and they are very strong images. I encourage you to post them on the Photo forums and request feedback.

Manfred,

I would also encourage you to start offering your own feedback on the photos you see. It's a way for the community to get to know you. I've made some very good friends on this forum.

Cheers!

Look up Photomatix. They have a good tutorial for their product. Simply put, you tweak contrast selectively in different tonal areas. Like I need more mid-tone contrast (gritty) so I mask off the other tones and work on the middle.

Rolo, super, all of them. Did you also shoot another format for the Landrover?

Thanks Downstairs. :D

Only shot the M8 with the Fantastic 24mm Elmarit-M. see 'http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/sports-leisure-time/104258-land-rover.html for the contact sheet'.

I truly admire your tabletop work above. Thanks for sharing that. :)
