Which railway I wonder?

My guess would be a preserved or heritage railway in the UK because I can see concrete troughing passing under the signalman's right foot that contains the necessary cables to support colour light signals on the mainline railway and the wires and rods for a separate mechanical signalling system.  An unusual place where the lines are controlled by three different signalling technologies.

I have been searching my archives lately and reminiscing over the cameras I have owned and used. The M8 was a fantastic camera (still is IMHO).

This was taken with the M8 and a 35mm lens, possibly the mkIII summicron.

Interesting to see the 19th century steam splendor alongside a "wee but and ben" sporting a satellite dish.  Great photo, too.

Actually I have the filters but I don’t mind using my lenses without them. Since I only shoot raw I can easily make any color adjustments in post.

When I had the M8, I used the Super Wide heliar 15mm often - a filter did not fit. But by chance, the results were great. Probably I never used the lens inside. However I also bought a 40mm M-Rokkor at some time. I could not find a good filter for that, all colors were washed out sort of, and of course specifically synthetic blue clothing. No PP possible. Still, under broad daylight it was often OK. I found that on the Summicron 35mm, 50mm a filter was also not always needed - in the best day light scene, but the differences in output I got frustrated me (and led to the M240..).

Nowadays there are several filters available, light IR (370 nm) and stronger ones (400 nm), I think that needs some testing, and are available for the 40.5 mm filter size like for the M-Rokkors and the  Jupiter-3. There are also 420 nm filters - probably what Leica used - but I saw none in a perfect size.

In these trying times, when we can't travel, I have made three 100 page real glossy photoprint albums of past travels.

I was surpised by the excellent quality of the M8. far 'superior' to what I have nowadays, even though my 'resolution' is higher now. The M8 just pops.

Look here at the central square of Brussels. The ornaments shine.

That rendering - how to describe it - is great and what I would like in a new M. Is it the Kdocahrome colour and detailing? I donno. 🤕

It is just 3D, picture after picture.

I thought about re-aquiring an M8. I sold mine for € 600, so asking prices of the double scare me. 35mm Summicron v1.

Jupiter-3+ on the Leica M8, UV/IR cut filter.

All wide-open at F1.5. The 1/8000th second shutter speed of the M8 comes in handy, goo reason to keep this camera forever.
