hankg Posted August 7, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 7, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm looking for a 35mm finder. How does the old Leica 35mm viewfinder (SBLOO) compare to the new CV finder. Anyone come across any old finders that had adjustable tilt for parallax correction? I vaguely recall owning a small Russian finder that did but it was years ago.
Advertisement Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Hi hankg, Take a look here 35mm SBLOO Leica viewfinder. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wizard Posted August 7, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 7, 2007 While the old SBLOO finder isn't bad, it is usually more expensive than the metal CV 35mm finder. It is also bulkier than the latter, which prompted me to go for the CV unit. It's excellent, both mechanically and optically (VERY bright!). luigi bertolotti Posted August 7, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 7, 2007 Hank, between my various devices I have : 1) SBLOO 2) VIOOH ("zoom" 35 to 135, image right, reaches 28mm via TUVOO add-on... 300g of SOLID VF....) parralax correction 3) VIDOM ("zoom" 35 to 135, image laterally reversed) parallax corr. 4) VISOR (frames 35 to 135, image laterally reversed) parallax corr. 5) RASUK (sport folding 35 & 50 plus... other accessories) a sort of parallax corr. 6) Zeiss revolver 6 focals 21 to 135 (has 35) parallax corr. 7) Russian revolver, inspired to the above, 5 focals 28 to 135 (has 35) no parallax corr. 8) Tiny black plastic Russian 35, no parallax corr. ... but not the modern CV you quote... If your need is for 35 only, SBLOO is really excellent to look through, clear, corrected, big frame... and I have spectacles, keep in mind...; the absence of parallax correction is not so critical... you learn quickly to "nose-compensate" from 5 metres about to 1 meter. The russian 8) is terrible when confronted: unclear, small frame, impossible with spectacles. Besides this (we collectors like to speak of...).... VISOR is a collectible only, ditto VIDOM; VIOOH deserves consideration if you plan to use some fine LTM body with 35+90 or 135... heavy and big, but people look admired at it:) , and is quite usable. RASUK is usable, but very uncomfortable to keep fitted on the body. No much to say about the 2 revolvers... have Zeiss simply for I found one cheap when bought my first Super Angulon 21, its movement is incredibly sweet and precise; and the Russian version (that you can find dirty cheap, and is not so worst than Zeiss in optic) is a heritage of my Zorky of 1974... my first contact with VF photo...
