I am interested in the 24mm summilux how do you like it compared to 35mm summilux in general.

For me, with the M10M's ample ability to crop if required,  shooting discreetly from the hip pretty much knowing I won’t miss anything is a big advantage of the 24mm when wandering around a city in addition to the benefits of wide angle for cityscapes. Out of focus rendition I like and in the right light produces a very pleasing signature, but then so does the 35mm FLE so really down to focal length.

It is quite large and heavy, just that and the M10M in the bag and wouldn’t want to carry much else other than very occasionally with a 50mm.

The 35mm summilux stays almost permanently fixed on my M10-D or for occasional M6 use. For the M10M I can see why Mr Schaller likes the 24mm and, inspired by him, when one came up on a local auction site couldn’t resist and no regrets at all.

Thanks for detailed answer , for me on many occasions I found that the 35mm(despite my love for it) its hard to composition due to limited angle, the image feels tight with the frames so close. f1.4 is great for low light and bokeh. also for family shooting it will work better than 35 for group shooting. its only the price and the weight that I don't like.

Did you add the vignette or is it the property of this Noctilux F1.4 wide open? -- Thanks CHIPS

The focus with this lens can be a challenge -- I like the concept. Thanks, CHIPS

I am surprised that the wide open you Noctilux has deeper dof than in my experience with my  Noctilux f .95 and overall it is slightly darker than your exposure at f5.6. It is subtle but yes it performs a bit like two different lens.

This is an illuminating example -- I wouldn't have thought this would look so different and surprising at wide open it looks constrained but at f5.6 the subject seems to glow. Thanks ,CHIPS

Thank you, Chips. I use the Nik software quite a bit. Typically, I'll make some initial adjustments in Silver Efex but I also like to finish off by adjusting the tones in Viveza. A lot of people think that's just for adjusting color image but I find it very good for b&w.

Thanks, I got a message from NIK saying that they only support RGB Channel cameras. But I have had similar results that you report with the M10M. Sometimes the Technicians aren't as creative as the photographers. CHIPS

You captured a special mood. The tones and layers in the mist works very well. Many of us might just roll back into bed and think nothing much is happening. But your photo has a peace and emotional calmness, Thanks -- CHIPS

Wow! That water stream is really in for it. Glad my leg is nowhere in the vicinity.

Great shot, perfectly timed.
