I have a M9 that shows signs of slight corrosion and I’ve been holding off on sending it in as the corrosion doesn’t show up under normal shooting conditions. I heard on another forum that  that Leica is planning to discontinue replacing sensors for the M9, is this true? I know supplies must be limited but thought I had another year or so to get the sensor done. Has anyone else heard this?

Leica will replace them as long as they are available. I doubt that Leica will be willing to publish a final date, as it is uncertain when that will be. They aim to service a camera fully for ten years at least, so that target is met with the M9. Whilst after that period some service may become impossible due to lack of parts, they will not declare a camera "vintage" and refuse to service it altogether, like for instance Apple does. Leica will always attempt to do what they can. Example: in (IIRC)  2012 they used up the last parts they had to refurbish my DMR, despite it being out of service for years. They actually didn't even charge me for the parts, only for the labour. M8s are still being accepted by CS, despite a scarcity of certain parts and no L:CDs left.

If I am correct they are only discontinuing free replacement. Replacements thereafter will be at cost. No need to panic my friend.

The sooner you send it for replacement there will be more chances to have sensors available... but, as antigallican said, why not ask Leica customer service directly? (In the meantime prepare to say good bye to 1000 Euros or so).

I did call Leica USA and asked them about sensors, and the gentlemen said that they have enough for the foreseeable future. I asked If I send my camera in next year would I still have a chance of getting the sensor replaced and the answer was yes. Right not they have a six week turnaround on sensor replacement.

Interesting, did he told you the cost for the replacement?
