Just received my sl2 so most probably doing something wrong/not properly understanding .

setting auto iso, whatever limit is ok and considered (800/6400 etc.)

while shutter speed limit apparently not working; setting 1/125 and many times going lower. Clearly not enough light but shouldn't this limit be anyhow applied ?

Thanks for your help

I am having this same issue with my SL2.  I did this all the time with my SL by setting the max shutter speed inside of ISO Settings menu.  Doing this on the SL2 does not seem to have any impact on the max shutter speed.  I was thinking the with Image Stabilization ON it was maybe overriding the max shutter speed, but even turning off IBIS did not have any beneficial impact.

The camera will stick to your minimum shutter speed until you get to your maximum ISO, after which it will use whatever speed gives a correctly exposed image.

The alternative ..... would be progressively underexposed images which Leica have chosen not to do.

I suppose it depends whether you prefer underexposed images or shaky ones ...... but with auto iso you have no choice.

Also ...... bear in mind that if you use several profiles you have to set and save it for each one as it is not globally applied, and changing profiles will revert to whatever has been set or not set  within it. This is a common cause of confusion till you get everything set up and working as you want it.

Thank you, this is clear.

Regret to notice no mention apparently was on the manual.

To me in the end  as others are saying it would make much sense limit as set into the sl.

A limit is a limit and not depending on something, you need to rely to this limit .

in the end I don’t like it as it is and hope in a next firmware change.

Isn't  the maximum shutter speed a maximum, and are you meaning a minimum shutter speed? E.g. if you set 1/125 the camera will do 1/60 if needed but not 1/250?

well the only other alternative is to use shutter priority and set to your preferred slowest and let ISO vary as required, or fix ISO as well and let the aperture vary.

I doubt this will change. IMO, the current functionality makes sense and is implemented in the same way by all other manufacturers, AFAIK.
If the shutter limit is fixed, then you may get incorrectly exposed images. That is something a camera should avoid in automatic modes.

I don't understand...if the limit underexposes, why would you prefer this in an Auto mode? The current setup is correct, it uses the minimum until it cant, then it uses the next best shutter speed.

If you don't want this, then a) you need more light or b) set your upper iso higher or c) you should be using M mode

Thanks for the replies.  This makes sense, but is just different than how I recall this working on the SL or maybe I just had my ISO maximum a bit higher and never noticed that it would have gone to slower shutter speed if image was going to be under-exposed.  The primary reason I used this feature was when using my 90M 2.0 Summicron to avoid images that had movement. With the IBIS this may be less of an issue.  Thanks again for the replies.
