35mm summilux ASPH focus tab

Can someone teach me how to remove the focus tab without damaging it.  I will have to put it back after a project. 

My 35mm summilux ASPH is a previous version, the one before FLE, is it version 4??

No.

Among the 35 mm M lenses, yours is the first Summilux Asph version, the second aspherical Summilux version, or the third Summilux version.

it ends 2010, so it's V3?

Not an easy job I bet to remove the tab.

Not DIY anyway.

it is this one.  I figure the screws are behind it.  I post this question here to see if miracle can happen.

The 35mm Summilux-M ASPH is a completely different lens from its predecessors. It cannot be called "v.3" - unless one would also call a 2020 Ford Focus a "Ford Model T - v.32"

You have v.1 of the 35mm Summilux-M ASPH.

You are correct that the focus tab is attached with internal screws. It requires significant disassembly of the lens to reach the screws and remove the tab. And to put it back on. Leica (or other competent technicians) can do both, for a price.

Not sure to follow here. If you have a 35/1.4 asph v1 (11874, 11883 or 11859), it doesn't have an indented focus ring. How do you plan to rotate that ring w/o tab then? Just curious.

Hello from 2024. My focus tab needs replacing on my pre asph 35mm and I do not want to send it in to Leica due to wait times.

Are there any other options out there that people have found work well since this original thread? 

edit: permanent tabs only, not stick on ones.

I would ask a repair shop. Was a simple job last time i asked but that was several years ago.
