Albert I liked and own one of the original Bataflae versions, before the Tamrac merger. Some still might be sitting on shelves, but discontinued in that form. The new ones are different. Stuart Richardson Posted November 16, 2019 Share #6 Posted November 16, 2019 If you are looking for the possibility to check gear in, I have found that the Tenba Air Cases are extremely good....much lighter and less conspicuous than plastic hard body cases like Pelican and still giving great protection and being nearly indestructible. They are not submersible, but if your main concern is travel, they do the job better. For working out of a vehicle, I often use a Billingham 545 (I think). I bought it 15 years ago and it still looks nearly new, despite sending it through hell. The leather has broken down a bit, but the canvas looks great and the interior looks new, despite having heavy cameras pulled into and out of it on a regular basis for years. If I am taking just the camera and lens, I really like the Fogg e Flat shoulder bag. I tend not to prefer backpacks unless I am going for a real hike, in which case I have a bag from Photobackpacker, which no longer exists. They converted a Kelty Redwing backpacking pack for camera use. I think that is the way to go...find a real backpacking bag with a proper suspension, place the gear in an insert or case and carry that. Most camera backpacks are overstuffed with foam, lack truly professional suspension systems, and are not that versatile for carrying anything else than camera gear. Jeff I looked into the Kiboko 30L v.2 for want of a better description and even spoke to Andy Biggs, the creator. He said the S would fit but the new bag is one inch narrower and two S bodies cannot fit side to side. In the older Kiboko and Bataflae, they fit perfectly. Obviously if you have only one body or are prepared to place them differently, then no issue here... I went on eBay and found a new Bataflae 30L that I am keeping in reserve. Go to a photography show or a shop and try as many bags, backpacks, cases, etc as you can that might suit your needs, comfort and budget. This is kind of a strange reaction to someone asking for recommendations...I know that from my own location in Iceland, there are extremely limited choices regarding camera bags at local stores and there are no photography shows. Online recommendations would play a big part in learning about options. In fact, I think I am the only S user in the country. Recommending backpacks without knowing the OP's needs is akin to recommending footwear. What is comfortable for one person can be unsuitable, frustrating and uncomfortable for another. At this point only the OP knows what he is going to do, where he is going and what he is going to carry. If I'm pushed to recommend a camera backpack for lugging a medium format outfit on the hill (in my case a Fuji GX617 and a couple of lenses or a Hasselblad 503CW with meter, batteries, film, tripod, filters etc, it would be an F-Stop Ajna My own recommendation of a backpack or shoulder bag for travel wouldn't be much use to the OP if it is too small, too big or otherwise unsuitable if he/she found it too uncomfortable to carry when loaded. What I find useful about posts like this and I suspect also useful to Acekerman is that they filter the choices down to what has worked for others using similar equipment. These ‘recommendation’ simply open the doorway for more targeted enquiries regarding specifications etc. The Market is saturated with so called camera bags and after a time they morph into all looking the same supposedly doing the same job which we know is far from the truth in regard to kit protection etc. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Just one? 😎 For X-Body the Wotancraft trooper works for camera+lens and two additional lenses, depending on size. I find however the weight of the S with three lenses really the limit for a longer walk with a sling or shoulder bag. The S with one lens attached and another one fits a lot of smaller bags, too, for instance my Fogg Forté. A more tech style would be for instance the Integer from Mission Workshop. Expensive thing, but lightweight and very comfortable to carry. Easily fits the S and two additional lenses, plus flash(es) etc. It can be set up to make lenses accessible through the side door. In addition, and this is what I like with backpacks, there is a rolltop for any small stuff you bring along, stuff away, shop whatever. Quality is top notch. I use their Rambler since years for grocery shopping with the bicycle - still like new. There is little information available online, but this backpack is the best for larger cameras I ever owned. You can of course take everything out and make it one large main compartment. The model 2 is an improvement although absolutely no complaints about mine. Eats up my SL +90-280 + 16 -35 +.95 + laptop + charger ++ small bits of other stuff. Very functional...thoughtful design and the manufacturing quality is up there with the Fogg. Ive bought a few bits from them and their service is 1st Class....a small company who are genuinely fanatical about producing camera bags built to last it seems.
