I've only used medium yellow in the past for my lower-contrast lenses (50 Rigid, Canon LTM). I've been lent a very late German 75 Summilux for some portraiture in B&W using my Monochrom, and probably an M6 too. Is the light yellow a better choice or is it too light to offer anything change in contrast or skin tone?

(Really beautiful and easy to focus lens compared to my 75 Summicron APO, BTW. I now understand what people here were waxing poetic about all this time...B))

In general, I am pleased with middle yellow on the MM1 for landscape and general photography. Sometimes, for drama, I will switch to orange. For portraits I would advise a green filter to smooth out blemishes and veins,  for "craggy" potraits you can use a red filter to enhance all characterful facial features

Finding the right diameter filter E60 for Summilux-M 75mm is a challenge by itself.

Maybe it's easier now than some years ago.

I'd use it as such without filter to appreciate the lens "as is" ( nude ! ) ...

In my photos, the subtle differenciation of colors from Noctilux 1.0 or Summilux 75 still "seen" (in shades of gray ! ) in my Monochrom's files.

Or if you can find Green or Yellow-Green for portrait may answer.

Or use a commonly available 62mm filter with a 60mm to 62mm step up ring.

Why not.

That was what I've done, but no way to extend the hood and screw-in hood 62mm hides too much the 75mm framelines in viewfinder.

Strange that my search didn't come up with that one. But thanks for the tip! Just bought it.
